I will not speak about him in the way I do about Mackay, Blanchflower, Jennings, Hoddle, Perryman. I am afraid there is no justification for him to be added to the aforementioned.

I suppose the difference between Bale and those legends that you mentioned is that they arguably had achieved many of their ambitions playing for Spurs.

Don't see the big problem with him doing that. It's his boyhood club after all.

Modern footballers are scum. Gerrard is fitting example of a loyal player.

He did disrespect us, the fans and supporters of THFC.
The huge public show at Real was sickening in itself.

Bale may be a brilliant player and leaves us with some good memories but he's not a Spurs Legend like Blanchflower, Mackay, Hoddle, Waddle, Mabbut, Ardilles, Ginola, Klinnsmann, and Gazza who in my opinion was a much better player than Bale and even though he doesn't come back to Spurs all that often(Like Linekar too) (I can't recall him coming back recently) he played with his heart and never disrespected us and is a legend - These players are loved as they were not money grabbing greed filled mercenaries like Berbatov, Modric and Bale.

Bale missing training and matches and not turning up to even say good bye was disrespectful. No difference between him and Modric .
Kissing the badge was sickening. It was the coup de grace and yes I feel bitter at that.

I wish him well for his sake, but he's not a Spurs Legend and will soon be forgotten just like Modric and Berbarov are .

i think that screwed me over was his statment that he would have gone there for a 'penny' - what the feck is that?

That made me laugh. I thought, penny? Surely Bale wouldn't play for El Scum for a penny?
Oh he meant if Spurs for a penny transfer fee?? He surely would've sold out for a penny. Judas did too.

His whole ceremony was cringeworthy I thought, the kissing the badge, the family pics, his keepy-ups - LOL

I just take it as part of integrating with a new club and fans, myself. Plus there were demands from the photographers for him to kiss the badge so they could get the picture they wanted.

Bale was a great player for us but I don't think he ever made a secret of the fact that he wanted to move to a big team abroad one day.

I know he acted like a bit of a shit not turning up to training in his last few days here but in the grand scheme of things that hardly matters really.

I'm not angry with him at all. I'd do the same in my career, and have. Bigger stage, better pay, better chance of awards, working with better people means you produce a better end product. The way it all happened is as much the blame of modern football and agents as him. It's just the done thing nowadays, it seems

He does not support Spurs. Very few players do nowadays. I have a theory that this is because your typical 23-27-year-old footballer would have been getting into football during our dark era of doing nothing. I don't have any problem with that

What I do have a problem with is the wailing and gnashing of teeth on here whenever any player acts like an employee and not a fan

I think Gerrard staying at Liverpool and rejecting Chelsea was more about not wanting to get lynched by the local scouse mafia than undying loyalty to Liverpool. And let's not forget that at the time he was guaranteed CL football at Liverpool and was a product of their youth system, none of which can be said of Bale.

Bale is no different to most footballers. They want to win trophies and earn as much as possible. Who can honestly say that during last season they never had the thought that Bale is just too good for us?

Look at it from his point of view. He's been with us six years and for the last 2 or 3 has seen us lose both VDV and Modric and fail to push on. He's a young supremely talented footballer and the contuining promise of jam tommorow at Spurs was never going to be enough to keep him from resisting Madrid. Maybe if we hadn't spurned a golden opportunity to move ahead of Arsenal and establish ourselves he would have been more prepared to wait a couple of seasons.

I agree the badge kissing was cringworthy but that's modern football. Its all bullshit.

Also, it seems clear now that we have been open to the Bale sale for some time, so it wouldn't surprise me if Levy was quite happy for Bale to stay away so as not to scupper the potential £85m needed to strengthen the squad.

I sincerly hope that if Bale returns he is given a decent reception.

Seriously get over it. I'm happy for him and I'm happy with £86m. I would have done the same, even as a Spurs fan. Except it wouldn't have been for Madrid. I'd have gone the way of another of my boyhood hero's

You guys are crazy.

I for one will be following his career at Madrid as though he is still one of us. I hope he does really well and forms a quality partnership with Ronaldo, and that Madrid smash the Champions league, mainly due to Bale.

I hold no grudges against him, he had said his goodbyes to the players and staff, so why does it matter if he missed the last few days of training? He was preparing for the biggest transfer in history...!?

Hopefully we will have a chance to play them next year, and to welcome Bale back to the lane (only for us to beat them roundly, obviously)

Kissing the badge? wtf?! who cares, if i signed for madrid, the biggest team in the world, i would kiss the badge!!! i would sleep in the shirt and revel in every moment....

Gareth, thanks for the memories, the quality you showed for us, the unbelievable match-winning performances you put on for us. Best of luck, come back when you've won everything and win it again, but with us!!

*signs off with hands in heart shape*

Now we got LAMEEEEEEELLAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

Of course I do see it from his point of view. And i do know that its about employers and employees now, but he made 2 or 3 errors in judgement which pissed me and multitude of others off.

Anyway I won't mention him again. He's history.
And I expect many other current spurs players to do the same, so I'm ready now.

I may have done the same but its not about going or being happy to be there.

Anyway I as well would've preferred him at Barca like the legend that is GL rather than Los facistos

I really don't see anything wrong with his behaviour at all.

The sulks and strops didn't come from him, he wanted to move, he's getting £300K a week and a big load as a signing on fee, I appreciate for the fans it's difficult, but he left us with 90million in the bank, didn't walk away for free to a local rival.

People seriously need to grow up.

Truth be told he started of Great then flab and laziness for the better of him.
Wasted talent and potential, but I wonder how he feels about Spurs?

If I'm honest, I don't care what Bale did at his unveiling, just hope Carles and Dani are fit for El Classico. Força Barça
