There are probably 4-5 players only from Spurs I would pick ahead of him.
The proper name for awards in football is medals. As in, "show us your...."
Sick to my back teeth of all these football awards. I've lost count of them there are so many nowadays. The Hollywoodisation of football. Yes, the Bd'O has been around forever, but ffs, enough already.
Coutinho? This is a joke, right?
Does it perpuate (the incorrect) belief that players have to play at/be considered by the very biggest/most reknown teams to be considered?
What about Messi, Ronaldo and Winks?
That high profile failed move to Barca which will still likely happen probably helped him on to the list.
There's still more players to be added.
Expect pogba to be on there too, he's been unplayable since arriving back in England
Thats a list of nominees - Messi, Ronaldo and Winks are on the short list of winners.
The list of 30 nominees at the 2017 Golden Ball is unveiled on Monday. Discover the complete list, updated throughout the day live on the site.
Used google translate on that page and one of the comments below I thought was quite amazing(/amusing)...
Opinions are subjective and all that but what is it about Coutinho? He's a good player, sometimes very good but... what am I missing?
Compared to De Bruyne, David Silva and Eriksen and he isn't on that level IMO.
I'd even take Ozil over him even though the latter peaked at Real Madrid and is on the decline.
Is it because he's Brazilian? I understand the domestic/Liverpool bias but what about those outside of this country?
Neymar (PSG / Brazil)
Luka Modric (Real Madrid / Croatia)
Paulo Dybala (Juventus Turin / Argentina)
Marcelo (Real Madrid / Brazil)
N'Golo Kanté (Chelsea / France)
Luis Suarez (Barcelona / Uruguay)
Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid / Spain)
Jan Oblak (Atlético Madrid / Slovenia)
Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool / Brazil)
Dries Mertens (Naples / Belgium)
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City / Belgium)
Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich / Poland)
David De Gea (Manchester United / Spain)
Harry Kane (Tottenham / England)
Edin Dzeko (AS Roma / Bosnia)

I was very surprised to see Dzeko there, had completely forgot he exists. Turns out he's been banging them in for Roma. 8 in 8 this season so far
If Coutinho is on there and Eriksen isn't there is something wrong.
Alderweireld and Alli have very legitimate claims to be on that list as well.
Eriksen > Couthinho all day long, thieving bindipper nicked CE's place
Sadio mane in the shortlist. Still no Eriksen. Pathetic.
Eriksen is better than both Coutinho and Mane. I don't know what Benzema is doing on the list either, because he's playing for Real I suppose.
Separate names with a comma.
