Balotelli Instagram post to be investigated by FA

The Football Association (FA) is to investigate a social media post by Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli which appeared to contain anti-Semitic and racist references.

Balotelli, 24, deleted the post from his Instagram page of Nintendo computer game character Super Mario.

The Italian later tweeted to deny the text of the post was offensive....

Now Balotelli is black and his family is jewish. So can that be construed as racism? Also then all it would take for some twat(we know who) to say how is that different to us if he is found guilty

This was one of the few things I guess Balotelli's never been accused of before...i.e. being a racist. What's next?
By definition (Balotielli having a Jewish mother) he is Jewish...but hang on, is the "too black" to be considerded a Jew? What if a "white" Jew had come with such comments?
There is plenty of jokes about the Scots being penny pinchers - but that is no deal at all...

Stupid man posts stupid picture on Instagram.

It may have been intended as an attempt to mock racism, but if so it's failed cataclysmically by making reference to 'grabbing coins like a jew'.

The FA are best served ensuring it's swiftly deleted and forgotten, rather than dragging it all out. If he deletes it and explains that he didn't really understand the implications of what he was posting then surely that's good enough.

The FA can't police every player's social media accounts in case someone shares a picture they don't like. They need to get a grip.

It's an interesting one. I don't know how anyone can construe that picture an "anti-racist". It's hardly on a Sacha Baron Cohen level of piss take.

On the other hand, the golden rule of racism or stereotyping is that's it's ok to take the piss out of your own, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Stupid thing to post though, but it's Balotelli so not surprising in the least.

I never got the whole it's OK to take the piss put of my own kind stuff.

It's very tribal and elitist. Not to mention that no one else 'of your own' sees you as their representative.
