I preferred it when we were written off after 2 games and started quietly going about our business starting with an assured performance at Wolves which was a world away from those two.

Now we seem to be getting a lot of praise from the media and you know the media.... they build you up to tear you down.

They're all jumping on the bandwagon. Team just needs to stay as focused as it has been and not get distracted or ahead of themselves. We've eaten plenty of our own words over the years.

Having said that we should finish 2nd comfortably.

2nd in the league or 2nd in London?

That's the worst article I've ever read on the BBC.

I don't have an issue over what he is asking - but his writing style is very poor.

It's only a blog though, so it's not really an article. Just the commentator of MOTD rambling.

YAY

Interestly, I was reading about Roman's legal wranglings of the moment, yesterday, and wondering just how much this and the fair play regulations combined were going to impact on Chelsea. What, for instance, if, for whatever reason (prison, assassination, boredom, bankruptcy), Roman's millions were clawed away from the Chavs, and they had to balance their books properly, all at the same time?
At this present time, we can all see that they have some ageing players, who haven't been replaced, and seriously need a Modric-esque player. I also believe they have taken a massive gamble on AVB - no matter what his overall ability, itmay just be a bit too big a bit too soon for the fella. I believe, and did so even after the Manchester games at the start of the season, that we are presently capable of finishing above them. IMagine the rug being pulled away from them right now

At the same time, returning to one of my favourite themes :)grin:), I believe the Whinger has an achilles heel that he is incapable of recognising. He inherited a top-notch defensive unit/goalkeeper :)evil:), and with them to anchor his midfield/sttriking unit he achieved a great amount of success. Since that defensive/keeping unit retired he has had less and less success. I do not believe he understands exactly what is required for these positions in the EPL, and has created an orthodoxy in his own head that he will not challenge - English/British/British Isles centre-halves are over-priced and he can get just as good overseas at a fraction of the price.
So, what we see is almost every transfer window he is linked with locally produced centre-halves who he flirts with, declares to be too expensive, and then buys overseas. This Summer it was Cahill and, eventually Mertesecker - who is a decent CH in his own environment. If we count Samba, who he was also linked to, as being acclimatised to the EPL, reflected in his asking price, and imagine a partnership of him and Cahill in the Goons team, I am sure they would be far, far less inclined to concede the ridiculous goals they concede on a regular basis.
Where this leaves the Goons is constantly building exciting, attacking formations, but with this Achilles heel, so they don't quite reach the top, disillusioning there best talent, who leave, and Whinger has to start all over again. he does this very well, as he clearly has an eye for every position on the pitch - other than central defence/goalkeeper.
Long may it continue - as it appears that we are now, seriously, on the verge of surpassing them.

I don't believe we could be said to be the top team in London, not jsut yet. We need to win things and finish above our rivals consistently before we are something more than just a flash-in-the-pan. But the potential is there IMHO.

Precisely... Potential for it is there, but we need more wins/trophies and to finish above Chelsea and arsenal a few times first.

Got a chance, just have to take it.

Let's hope we make the most of the situation we find ourselves in. Let's cement our position amongst the big boys and go from there.

It just shows how poor the EPL is, when Spurs are being touted as top 4 material, yet Real Madrid never left second-gear in their home and away demolitions of them in the CL. Real (who are even better this season, the last) have had tougher games against La Liga strugglers, like Racing and Real Sociedad.

This leads to the conclusion that, even if Spurs were the best team in London, they'd still be a bottom 3 team in La Liga.

You only need to look at the Spurs squad to see how average they are. Half of the Spurs squad would struggle to hold down a place in the starting XI of ''The Coach and Horses'' on A Sunday morning. Scott ''journeyman plodder'' Parker, Tom Pubblestone and Aaron ''headless chicken'' Lennon, being amongst the most obvious examples of these players.
