If, as seems increasing likely, Man Utd. agree a fee with Spurs and Berbatov transfers, would you be happy to see Bentley and Santa Cruz join.
I feel that these two would fit the Spurs style perfectly.
And, on that basis, would like to see Mr.Moody move on.
Now where's Levy when I need to talk to him......

Opinions?

I think Santa Cruz looks like a great buy. I was really impressed with him last season. Very technical and won't give up a chase. Hard working, technical player. Not many of those about.

I really dont see Blackburn selling Santa cruz. I think we should try a bit longer to sign the likes of Villa, Eto'o and how about Adriano? If not, then someone like Diego Milito will be a good alternative. I dont think we actually need someone as good as Berbatov anymore with Modric, Giovani and Bentley (probably.) We just need someone to stick the ball in the net. We should defo keep Bent and Keane though.

Cant see Villa or Eto'o working with Keane personally.

I think Santa Cruz is an excellent player and although i do agree that Blackburn probably wouldnt want to sell. Every player has a price and Ince may want the money to bring in his own players.

I personally think that a midfield/strike force of...

----------------------Hudd---------------------------

Bentley---Jenas----Modric---Dos Santos

----------------------Bent----------------------------

Would actually be pretty good. Bent works well as a lone striker given that he has the supply of which I’m sure that quartet could all provide......

And with the midfield line up like that, balls to his feet or even behind the back line should be easy to come across! I may have not been keen on Bent befor we got him, or alot of last season but that was because i didnt think he fitted the players we had, but with the midfield line up being changed so much thsi season, we may now have the players who can play to his strenghts.

But back on topic, Santa Cruz is a good player, and if Berbatov does go (i hope not) then i wouldnt mind seeing him line up for us, cant see Blackburn wanting too or selling him cheaply anyway.

Agree Bolt.

I'd take Santa Cruz and Bentley if we are getting rid of Berba.

Thanks yid-ol. I think it would work too. Our play has been usually far too slow to fit in with Bent’s style IMO.

I've always rated Bent - even before he was at Spurs. He is lightening over a few yards.

At Spurs he just has never had the chance – how often can you say that you’ve seen Bent with clear space in front of him to latch on to through balls? Hardly ever. Usually gets dragged too deep or our play is so slow that by the time someone has spotted him he’s already surrounded by a couple of players.

A santa cruz and Keane partnership hasn't got the pace Ramos would like. I think actually a Berb/Keane one is slower than he would ideally like. If Berb or indeed keane goes Ramos's prefered replacement would be a very quick CF and i'm not ruling out Eto till he signs for someone else or indeed he'd try out bent. I can only see santa cruz being a serious target if we were losing both Keane and Berb.

If Berbs goes, a front 4 of Keane, Bent, 2 Saints and Bento is far from awful. Between those 4 we tick most of the boxes in terms of strikers (especially with Pecklet as 5th choice).

Plus we'd have the money from Berbs for that nice pair of Ferregamo chinos Damien Comolli has had his eye on.

If Bent plays lone striker role, could he provide the 30+ goal we will need from him? I think he could.

I'd be slighlty cautious about signing Santa Cruz. I see an incredible amount of parallels between Blackburn and Sevilla, that would make me weary of spending decent money on any of their strikers. Santa Cruz and Kanoute are similar players, as are Fabiano and McCarthy. Between them they've all had 1 fantastic season in recent years, having previously had pretty average or inconsitent careers in front of goal.

What all 4 of them have found at Sevilla and Blackburn is that they are playing in systems that many strikers would flourish in. At Sevilla Palop, Navas, Adriano, Alves and Capel have provided Kanoute and Fabiano with incredible service from wide areas. And as a result both strikers have had great seasons in recent years. It's the same at Blackburn. MGP, Bentley, Warnock (the most under rated FB in the Prem) and Emerton all provide great service for strikers. I really see no reason why Bent wouldn't have scored as many at Blackburn as McCarthy or Santa Cruz. If we sign Bentley, to compliment Bale and Hutton, we'd have the service. The question is would Santa Cruz make any more of it the Bent. I'd say he's technically better, but Bent is quicker and more direct. With the right service I think Bent would be a 20+ a season striker in the Prem. He scored 18 in a poor Charlton side. Had Santa Cruz been playing for us last season, when we had a right footed left back, a right footed LW and a RW who generally offers poor delivery, would he have scored anywhere near as many?

The other thing to remember about Santa Cruz is that he is more comfortable at a smaller club with less pressure. Injuries weren't the only thing that cramped his progress at BM.
