The bastard never said a thing about spurs or the spurs fans or his time here,I'm starting to hate him big time.

He said it all in his first press conference in Bulgaria on 2nd Sept.

How many times do you want to hear him repeat it? He'd only be accused of saying hollow words if he did anyway.

He's moved on, he's an MU player now and has been for nearly 2 weeks. Enough already.

When Modric gave a PC at the Lodge did he thank Dynamo Zagreb or Gomes PSV?

No, they were asked and talked about their future.

If you want to hear Berbatov saying thank you to Spurs there are plenty of videos on the net put up over the past 2 weeks. Just search.

Lily, make an interview up. Custis will buy it because he seems to be inherently arrogant and ignorant.

Post it saying things like "Manchester United have always been my dream club. Well, apart from Real Madrid, obviously. Playing at The Bernabeu (in my opinion the best stadium in the whole world bar none) was the highlight of my career. The thought that maybe one day Cristiano Ronaldo and me could link up again in the white of Real is what keeps me going."

Lily,

Want to address a couple of points...

<<For a start he never mentioned Ferguson, by "Manager" he's referring to his Agent.>>

Ah, would this be the 'agent' who had (since Berbatov first arrived at the club) agitated for, and laid the roots for, a move to Man.Utd? Sorry, if I'd known it was him, I'd have been far nicer!!!!! In fact to be perfectly honest, I feel sorrier for Ferguson than I do Dantchev!!!!!!!!

<<He answered the questions that were asked of him at the press conference, I suggest you watch the BBC website video of more or less the whole thing to get a proper perspective of what he said, though I doubt you'd appreciate it even then. You make it sound like he's totally up his own arse, when all he is is an excited footballer from Bulgaria having just joined one of the 2 biggest teams in the world. Quelle surprise, he had no loyalty to us, why so shocked?>>

You know, there's a side of me that agrees with you. He had no loyalty, so 'quelle surprise' as you so sweetly put it. I sit here and I think to myself, 'Lily's right, I am being immature' etc, etc...but you know what it is? You know what it really is Lily? It's not the fact he had no loyalty, it's not the fact he went to Man Utd,it's the WAY he did it and the DISRESPECT he showed to his former team-mates. With regards to answering the questions put in front of him, etc, listen, he's not naive. He could very easily have slipped in some words of praise for Spurs. Keane did. Most do. It's all sugar, but at least be smart enough to feign respect even if you have none.
And my personal bit of advice to Berbatov would be to make less of how 'difficult' a time it all was for him and his when speaking to the media...in fact, taking a leaf from Gareth Barry's book might've stood him in good stead with regards to attitude... there again, you could argue that the sad and pathetic 'moral'(LOL)of that comparison would be that unless you dig your heels in and behave like a complete and utter prick, you don't get what you want...a message I, personally, don't really like to see sent in any walk of life.

I'll leave the Campbell stuff alone, as they're not really comparable and I was none too happy with him either...

Of course there's a side of me that's very hurt over him leaving, and of course it's over-reaction on my part (guess what, can't help it, won't help it) but when I see the over-reaction to Ghaly throwing a shirt in disgust at his own performance, I think a degree of over-reaction to Berbatov basically going on strike and refusing to wear one and play with committment in the first place warrants at least the same amount of over-reaction.

One and a half great seasons for us (he didn't show up until November last season) does not earn him the right to behave the way he did in the month of August. Sorry, and sorry if you disagree...

Can we not all move on from this Berbatov business and Man U? Frankly we need to worry about our own players and results. He is gone now, we got good money and he was a good player for us, scored a goal in the cup final winning us our first trophy in years, that alone means he should be cheered and not booed. He hasn't said anything bad about the club and he has thanked all the fans and staff. Good enough for me, I don't feel bitterness towards the guy.

I think many fans are bitter as they cannot see the situation from Berbatov's point of view. In several months he will be 28 and will have only 2-3 years at top top level, provided he remains free of bad injuries. And he has won only one cup so far. Man U has come for him 2 years in row and this was possibly their last attempt to sign him. He thought that this may be his last chance to move to such a club as every season appear new stars like Benzema and Aguero and next summer Man U, Real etc may want to sign other players. So, it's a now or never situation. But the bosses of both clubs don't like each other and the negotiations are likely to fail. What could he do? - He had to make it as clear as possible that Spurs bosses would have a big problem if they failed to agree the transfer. This was the only thing he could do in order to help his dream come true. And here the story has become unpleasant for the fans. They are angry because he has neglected their feelings and didn't show enough respect. But they forget that he has to care about the last good years of his career. It would be naive to expect from him to sacrifice his dream to play at the highest possible level in order to not hurt fan's feelings (especially given that a good part of the fans accused him of laziness, inconsistence etc.; let's remember that he got only around 10% of the votes for Spurs Player of the Season, i.e. as many as a certain Steed Malbranque who was sold because Ramos didn't find him good enough!). Fans implicit requirement was: "Don't hurt our feelings and give your best for the club even if this could kill your chance to play at the highest level! " Was this requirement realistic?

Part of the reason why the saga was so painful is due to the fact that Danchev is a mediocre agent and Levy is a great buisnesman which resulted in a contract good for Spurs and bad for the player. Given that Man U were in for Berbatov at the time the negotiations about the contract weren't finished (this was revealed by Danchev this week, Man U came 2 days before the end of the negotiations 2006), Danchev could have achieved better clauses for his client. If Berbatov cannot see it, then I would question his non-footballing intelligence. If he had a better agent, it wouldn't be necessary to behave like that. (But Spurs would have got less money for him.) His "unprofessional" behaviour had to compensate the silliness of his agent. Strangely, Berbatov doesn't realise it yet.

Absolutely. I mean, Lily is bang to rights on this one, that is word-for-word from their story, and that sort of thievery, whilst sadly all-too-common in the red tops, should be challenged once in a while because nobody actually bothers to do so when they have a legitimate case...

My parents always told me no matter how bad you have it some one else got it worse.

The Berba saga has gone but look at Newcastle you think we got it bad???

I've moved on as far as I'm concerned he got a promotion and in any job I really can't see many people turning down the chance to move up, had he gone to Man City, that would have been different. He is a sulker but he did well for us and kept us in the euro cup and when Pav starts banging them in, he will be completely forgotten

I hope he doesn't get a poor reception when he returns.

This.

He turned down Man U to sign for us in the first place! He then gave us two wonderful years and we made £20million profit.

What more do you want? The biggest club in the world and current European champions came in for him, if he signed for City, then he deserves all the stick he can get. But if I was a professional footballer, I would want to play for one of the best teams in the world at my peak, and for more money...

The Campbell comparison is ridiculous. Most if not all of us realised Berbatov was This Gun for Hire, and that his thoughts were at United, a year ago. In itself, this doesn't bother me too much—I get the feeling that when some people wax lyrical about the 'good old days' and the 'loyalty' players showed then that they either forget or don't realise that clubs literally owned players. What hacks me off about Berbatov is that for a lot of the time it's questionable that the labourer was worthy of his hire; in two seasons we had a scattering of great performances (no-one's ever going to forget his one-man show against Bolton the season before last) and a lot of pretty ho-hum games in which he looked as if he felt himself rather above us for much of the time, with the sporadic flash of brilliance to show us what he was capable of when he could be arsed. If he'd played the first three games this season and turned on the style a lot of us would feel far less sour, particularly if we were sitting at or near the top of the table, but no, he went all Greta Garbo on us because the thought of doing his job was just too horribly stressful for him, poor lambkin.

Ghaly got slaughtered for a moment's madness; Berbatov showed calculated contempt for the club and the fans.

I'm absolutely gutted that Berba has gone but the fact is I cannot, and will not, bring myself to hate him. How could I??? I have had the privilege of seeing a world class player play for my club from my Park Lane Lower seat, how often can you say that over the last 20 years or so? He was nothing short of sensational for us, never said a bad word against aswell as helped us win our first trophy in almost 10 years.

A player of his ability deserves to be playing at the highest level and at the moment we are not at that level. We have been compensated to the sum of £30.75m for him, money that we used to bring in Pavlyuchenko & Modric, after buying him for just under £11m. How can I hate him for that?

I for one will be giving him a round of applause when he returns to WHL aswell as looking out for how he has performed from now til the end of his career. I'm proud of the fact that he played for us and was able to see a sublime genius at work the last 2 years...

p.s. My Fav Berba moment was his away performence at Besiktas in October 06. I was one of only 800-900 odd Spurs fans who was there that night to see him give a masterclass in forward play. To go to a very hostile place like that and then turning the crowd so much that they give you a standing ovation when you left the field was,and is unheard of especially when you consider he's playing in Turkey for a English team....Nuff Said and respect due Berba!!!
