In fact Berbatov/Keane being such a good partnership would fill me with confidence thinking about him playing with VdV.

Maybe Keane can get a stay of execution if Berba comes back?

Rolling back the years!

We used to play so fast because of Keane and Berbatov

That's the sort of partnership we need

Not sure VDV is quick enough to play as a 2nd striker. Probably best in a 3 man midfield with Modric and Sandro

Do me a favour, the fella plays for the best team England, one of the best teams in Europe, yet can't even be bothered to support his team mates in a Champions League final - how do you suppose he's going to handle playing in the Europa league with us?

The way he sulked around last time, with the sole intention of engineering a transfer to United, stunk the place out.

If Levy has any sense (which, of course, he has) he won't touch this particular brooding, malevolent individual with a 20ft barge-pole.

Spot on, I can't believe the short memory and lack of principals some people have here.

After the utter lack of professionalism he showed in his final days for us, as much as we need someone of his quality, it just can't be forgiven.

I want someone who wants to play for us, not someone who clearly used us as a stepping stone.

If its true that he left the stadium (likely), then Levy should be on the phone to him right now!

Imagine this:

Berbatov
Bale VDV Hulk
Sandro Modric
Ekotto Kaboul Dawson Walker
Gomes

Levy won't do that. Berbatov acted like a total prick when he wanted a moved to United. I would like Berbatov back, but I'm not sure Levy will be too eager to have him back.

Berbatov and Defoe could become a decent partnership too, because Berbs is such a good player he would bring the best out of others.

Over 30 years old. Sulky tosser. Royally screwed us over by virtually going on strike to engineer his move when he was still contracted to us.

Personally he can get f**ked as far as I'm concerned.

Quickness of mind combined with technique could be great, a real direct goal threat from right wing with Bale on the other side sounds pretty good to me.
Lennon's consistent checking back of late instead of attacking the full back has been doing my head in. Gervinho/Hulk perhaps?

I think VdV and Berbatov would be on the same wavelength for some reason... seems tailor-made to me the more I think about it.

Two players away from an incredible team.

By and large his performances in the Champions' League have been poor. Ironic considering that was one of the main reasons he left us.

Would I have him back here? Probably.

The moment we take him back we go from TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FOOTBALL CLUB to DOOR MAT FC. The guy completely insulted the club and doesn't have the right attitude to take a step down and do it all again. We need someone young who can grow with the team, someone quick and with the right attitude to the cause.

Amen brother. VDV has to play in midfield.

Would Berbatov score goals and improve our side? If the answer to that is yes, all other questions are irrelevant. This is football, not a matter of principle in the playground.

I feel exactly like this, I'm amazed how many people on here are talking about come home etc etc

WTF, the guy did all he could to sulk and force a move to his dream team. And now he can't get on the bench at said team you all want him back?? smh

Berbatov being a non energetic player will probably be top class till he is 36/37 like Sheringham was, he is 30 but he does not run around much so there will be many years at the top of his game yet, get him Levy
