Hopefully berbatov moves abroad and starts a striker merry go round. Enabling us to get a good striker in.

Re-signing Berbatov would be a typical small-time club action.

We should be looking to the future.

I actually think we'd score fewer goals with him in the side, very rarely would we have anyone in the oppo's area as Berba likes to come short and Van Der Vaart is too busy getting the ball off of our centre backs. Bale/Lennon/Modric don't get into the box enough to compensate.

There is only one this that matters.

Dimitar Berbatov is still better than all our other strikers combined.

Smarter, better touch, better finisher, more creative, better movement, as quick as any of them, they are all paceless, and powerful to boot.

Not to mention the Premier league top scorer.

Sulker?

Every right to be.

Michael Owen was finished 5 years ago. His inclusion over Berbatov's was a disgrace. Oh how they missed him on the pitch as well.

Levy won't do that. Berbatov acted like a total prick when he wanted a moved to United. I would like Berbatov back, but I'm not sure Levy will be too eager to have him back.

Levy and the club were disgusted with him

He basically refused to play for two games. I doubt they would trust him again.

I don't think we should put all our confidence in VDV + 1. I think we need two new strikers who can also complement each other.

I would like to see us go back to 4-4-2 at home like when Berbatov and Keane were here. We used to thump teams at home by 3 and 4 goals.

Then they should have sold him when the window opened, and not fuck up our whole season by doing it on the last day. That or tell him in May, your not going, so he has 3 months to get used to the fact.

Old deadline Dan, fucked it, not Berba.

I'd like us to go 4-3-3, and do everything possible to try and replicate Barca.

I can't believe there are people on here saying they wouldn't take him back!

The guy finished joint top scorer in the league and barely played in the last 2/3 months of the season. He probably scored more than all four of our strikers put together?

Everyone wants a marqee signing, he would be it. How Spurs fans have short memories, he's been the best striker I've seen at The Lane by a country mile in recent times.

An attacking lineup including Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Rafael Van der Vaart, Dimitar Berbatov and maybe include Aaron Lennon in that would be incredible!

Because neither of our three strikers can hold the ball up. Berbatov can, so he'd be able to stay up top.

I don't believe that. VDV comes deep purely because he wants to get involved. He could have the worlds best holdup guy up top with him but it wouldn't change a thing, we need someone to offer a threat in behind - neither can do that.

It is not the only thing that matters.
He refused to play. He attempted to help Red Nose underpay by approx. 13 million. He was, by all accounts unpopulat with the other players and made for a disharmonious dressing room - one of our prize assets, at the moment.

Sorry, Mask, but that is so much nonesense...and something some folk continue to peddle despite the fact it is utter nonesense (it smacks of a desperate need to hold on to an untarnished image of an idol no matter the reality).

The fact is that Red Nose made it clear he wanted Berby, and would stop at nothing to get him, fair enough. Levy told him the asking price was £31 million. Accept it or feck off - Red Nose. Red Nose did neither. He continued to sniff around, while letting BerbaGit agitate for a move in an attempt to force Levy to accept the lower price. BerbaGit's behaviour was disgusting - his first loyalty until he was sold should have been to the club who paid his wages, and yet he attempted to force through the move, and Levy's hand, eventually to the point of refusing to play. How can that be right, or justified? How would it have been right for Levy to have accepted being manouvered into being Red Nose's pissy-boy, and being short-changed by £13 million, as he clearly thought the player was worth the £31 million (by stint of the fact that he paid it - eventually)? How?

Do you remember (because I do) that Levy had a pretty good case, that he was taking to the FA, showing that Red Nose had tapped BerbaGit up - that was the background to the transfer.

I ask again, how could you say you would have been happy with Levy caving in to Red Nosse's shenanigans and being made to look so weak, and losing £13 million?

And, yes, I am aware that by seeking to hold out, and not (for once) roll over and stick our bellies in the air when United come to town, it did interrupt our transfer plans - returning to that issue won't answer my question.

If anyone has a short memory, it's you ... he sulked around and REFUSED to play for the club whilst taking his £50k a week which inturn caused us to have our worst start in living memory. He's a bad egg and he can take his lackadaisical attitude elsewhere.

How people can't see he's exactly the type of forward we need is beyond me. Berbatov and someone to compete with Lennon and add more of a goal threat seems ideal for us at the moment. The fact he knows the club, is experienced and is proven in the league just adds to how great a signing he would be. There was no coincidence that our downward spiral started after he left the club.

As for him leaving, we weren't anywhere near the side we are now and at his age he wanted to win things. No one knows what exactly went on behind the scenes, but he's went and won things now and I think we would easily be a match for any of the top 4 with him in the team. Teddy went and won things and came back, let bye-gones be bye-gones.

There's no reason to think he wouldn't want a return with the quality we have. We are so close to being real challengers and Berbatov would almost complete the side IMO.

IDEAL signing and Keano threw a strop too to get a move IIRC, Berbatov is 10 times the player. I'd like to think Levy is more intelligent than short-sighted or bitter.
