Since you've been watching Spurs, which player (or players if you can think of a few worth mentioning) have had the best ever season? I'd say,

1.) Gazza 90/91 - Arguably the best in Europe at the time
2.) Carrick 05/96 - At the fulcrum of everything we did in our best ever Prem season.
3.) Ginola 98/99 - Bought my first season ticket and was a waste of money, but this guy gave me something to cheer about, whilst watching George Graham's "exciting" team.
4.) Berbatov 06/07 - Scored and created so many, without him we'd have been mid table.
5.) Klinsmann 94/95

Clive Allen 1986/7 - Couldn't stop scoring. Didn't win anything but we were in it.

Gazza. He won the cup for us from round 3 all the way to the Wembley final beating Arsenal along the way, we were the underdogs. I don't think he has ever been the same since.
Berba - I agree. A jewel and talisman.

Best performance by a Spurs player for one whole season has to be Chris Waddles last year with us - he was unbelievable!

Well SS - You know me, cyber sort of - I've just googled him and it appears an oblique choice, even my Old Mum was only born in 1931 but I respect your call.

Hoddle & Ardiles 1980-81
Impossible to seperate but were the best two midfielders in the first division easily. Probably still the two best players I've seen live in a spurs shirt.

Clive Allen 1986-7
Most prolific season I have ever seen by a striker.

Clive was worth a goal start in every game.
He got injured in the 2nd min of the 82 cup final v QPR amd didnt make the replay. (good for Spurs)

His father Les played for Spurs in the 60/61 double winning team.

Clive was so clinical that one magical season.

Prattish cocks though they were, Campbell and Carr both had magnificent seasons for us before they left/got injured. In shite sides they carried us.

But it would be difficult to honestly argue they were more exciting, effective and enjoyable to watch than Gazza 90/91.

I agree with these 100% and would throw in Richard Gough & Graham Roberts.

I'll go with gazza too - such a vital cup win that was - while it may not have saved the club it certainly helped to keep us safe from a terrible financial situation - and of course on the footballing side that semi-final and that goal stood out - but lots of other highlights too

EDIT - thinking about it as question said best ever season - given that Gazza missed a fair bit of that season - then I've changed my mind - Clive Allen 49 goals - goals at the start and end of season and plenty in between

the club won nowt - but Clive got a footballer of the year award (Hod was second from memory)
- richly deserved and ensured his place in my mind as a club legend-

yes ronaldo got 42 - but clive got 49 - and yes I know Ronaldo's better :)

greavesie's 42 goals in 62/63 including our all time record of 37 lge goals was probably better as it finished with us winning the cup winners cup and greavesie getting 2 in the final - but to be honest I don't remember enough of it- as it was a little bit of TV coverage and some newspaper stories, articles and pics in the club handbook, I vividly remember a pic there of greavesie scoring one of those goals (perhaps it was the 37th), and stories and chats with fellow school friends in the main that I followed that season through -so I didn't really live it the way I did the 86/7 season

so technically Greavesie, but I'll go for Clive in the impact that 'great but nearly' season had on me

I hope i'm not the only one who has never heard of him.

1928-1930. Held our record for league goals in a season (36) until Bobby Smith equalled it and Greavesie beat it by one. 63 league games, 63 goals. Amazingly, he also holds the goalscoring records for Blackburn and Preston as well.

I started writing a little piece about him for the Legends section. I really must get round to finishing it.
