The Allen '87 season is probably the most impressive, this was before I was old enough to watch football but my granddad had every match of the day highligh or live match taped on an old beta max player (long after beta max were discontinued) and I used to watch the highlights whenever I stayed there.

I remember a 5-0 win against West Ham that he got a hattrick.

What I will say is he had a lot of talent around him, Hoddle, Waddle etc and as such you could argue that any half decent striker would have scored alot of goals with such service (still he was very clinical)

What I will say though is the Gazza 91 season was more important and ended in a FA cup win (it seemed we would go out of business without the win and money from Lazio) Plus Gazza (Lineker aside) had very few quality players around him so I will say he is the more impressive.

I remember him dragging us to the final, the amazing freekick against Arsenal, a great winner against Pompey on a terrible picth. If only he had had his crowning moment in the final for us.

Can you imagion if he had not injuried himself but gone on to score the winner in normal time with a goal like he scored against Scotland? That would have been a perfect season.

Unfortunatley to my mind he never came back from his injury, his talent was such that even a reduced talent he was still one of the best but before that injury he was the best in the world in my opinion and would have only got better (at the very least that injury stunted his progression, who knows how could he could have become otherwise)

Allen, Gazza, Klinsmann and Ginola all had great seasons but Chris Waddles last was amazing. Got the video of all our goals that season. Some of the goals he scored that season were trully world class and brought me pure joy. Still like it when I tune into Radio 5Live and Chris is the summarizer. He knows how the game should be played, pass and move.

This was the 88/89 season??? damn imagion if we had kept him as well as bringing Lineker in, we would have had the 3 best England players from the 90 world cup.

Shame DVD's werent around them days, id like to see that video you have. I doubt it can still be purchased (plus I cant watch VHS's anymore)

I've got that video too. My first Spurs compilation. He was unbelieveable. Haven't ever thought to check YouTube but if his goal at The Dell (the muddiest pitch you've ever seen) that is probably my favourite goal of all time. The sheer beauty of the strike in such ugly conditions make me grin even now.

I would have to say Gazza 90/91

He will always be my all time favourite player together with Maradonna (and now Messi heh)

If only he had not gotten that injury and he had been abit more serious with his career god knows how far he could have gone. His talents were endless.

Clive Allen 1986/7 - Couldn't stop scoring. Didn't win anything but we were in it.

Gazza. He won the cup for us from round 3 all the way to the Wembley final beating Arsenal along the way, we were the underdogs. I don't think he has ever been the same since.
Berba - I agree. A jewel and talisman.

I was thinking about Greaves, Klinsi and Cliff but Clive allen was the one as that was a really amazing season from him... Though he was only striker and propably had one of the best midfield behind him

Ledley Kings role in the 05/06 season needs mentioning. more so than Carrick imo. fabulous display. Best single season form a Spurs CB and when he was out we slipped to 5th.

Typical!! us defenders always get overlooked.

Gazza, he was a magician and we saw the best in that season, he dragged us through every round of the cup.. Clive Allen was amazing in 87, if only he could have carried that on, clearly had the talent, i remember my uncle (who is a spanner) telling me "its a one season wonder son", and i was defending him all season, but he wasnt far wrong.
Jurgen was quality as well, there are so many to mention really.Ginola was fantastic as well, and i believe they all loved this club, i mean really loved the club.

Problem is we have rarely had a team of quality in recent years so the few that we have stand out that much more!

I think Klins second stint with us because it meant something (single handedly saved us from the drop).

Clive Allen had a scorcher too.

I dunno, I included Gough & Roberts.

Roberts 84 season winning the UEFA cup eclipses Gazza's 91 season IMO.

I personally think gazza was better in 89/90 season...

Finally someone with a decent memory. People only remember the 91 season because we won the FA cup and Gazza's goal against the scum. But the 89/90 season we finished 3rd and Gazza was immense.

Clive Allen 87 season for me though.:)

He didn't actually play all that well second time round though, you could see he was no longer the player he once was.

Aside the Wimbledon game of course (which I was at :hump:)
