Sam Allardyce resigns as Crystal Palace manager after five months - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40021059
Mental. Ol' Sadsack slopes off to baste himself on a sunbed. I honestly thought he'd have stayed on and continued the sterling work he's been doing to try and rebuild his reputation after the England pisstake.
Actually, the way the England thing played out, i can't help but think he's been offered a significant amount of money elsewhere, probably to do exactly what he was saying he could on that secret tape that got him sacked.
Another opportunity for this guy
/Sherwood for Palace
Fair enough if he wants to retire.
The England job was meant to be his pinnacle. He fucked that up, needed to repair his reputation, did it at Palace and that's his career done. I understand why he's quit.
He was never going to get a bigger job - why continue being a relegation firefighter? It's probably become boring being type-cast. He's made his money and there's no more purpose for him to manage. Time for fresh faces to have their chance.
He's retired just like Harry retired. It's amazing how much difference an extra '0' makes.
I fully expect him to have retired from management but to show up as a "consultant" or something in the middle east, driving a very shiny car.
I just had a thought, maybe he was deeply affected by the Manchester bombing an decided to revaluate his priorities in life.
