I'd rather Modric running the game from the middle than pushed out wide to accomodate another defensive midfielder. It is harsh on Sandro, he is a massive talent, but we get no points for simply cramming the best players into the side, it is about creating the best team. Sometimes I feel like people adore 4-2-3-1 simply because it means having everyone in the team, irrespective of if they are playing where they should be or if playing 2 DM's is actually necessary.

The right side is a concern though, as others have said, I don't think Lennon has done anything to justify walking back into the team after the last two UEFA performances, but if we want a balanced side, we have few options really.

I'm quite happy with that. Sandro is still coming back from injury so resting him isn't a problem for me, it also means Modric plays where he's been playing best. The only other real option was to drop vdV for Sandro. Parker's a great choice for captain in my opinion.

THIS

If Sandro started and broke down, folk would be claiming he had been rushed back.
He played on Thursday, why not give him a rest, and, as Steve says, that team should be more than capable of beating Blackburn in their current plight.

No matter how we do it, a win today is important as it'll see us leapfrog over Liverpool.

For better or for worse I doubt we'll see Parker dropped for Sandro much this season. But as he's just returning, probably best not to get him duffed up again by Blackburn anyway. I like the look of the balance of the team, and two wingers to really get at the full backs, plus to always give us two outlets on the break should prove useful, as will having our best CM playing CM and not shoehorned out on the right, and giving Rafa hopefully more freedom and space to do his thing.

Parker seems the ideal captain for a game like today also.

I like the team, lets hope we don't drop any individual bollocks though..

Cannot see either Modric or Van Der Vaart being impressed with Parker as captain

unlucky for defoe. really would like to see him in for vdv, given defoe's run of form

What form?

Defoe was rubbish in the last game and Van Der Vaart has scored in our last 3 league games, wasn't a difficult choice

The Manure reign is over. If we win today and the match in hand, their lead over us will be only 3 points.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves shall we? No away game in the Prem is easy so I'll be delighted with a win today regardless of events in other games going on.

...though this is starting to hurt United goal difference

Van Der Vaart has, best leader at the club yet Harry either doesn't see it or doesn't want to because he didn't buy him

Very, very rarely is a forward made captain.
VDV rarely lasts a whole game.
VDV is very enthusiaastic, but that is not the same as drive and Parker has it in spades-full.
