O I miss the big man. I remember the 2nd to last home game he was incharge and we kinda knew his time was limited and for ages we just sang songs about Martin Jol, you could really hear everyone screaming it with every bead of passion hopeing that he would stay in charge, it was quite something, very emotional, at one point he stood up and did that kind og gorilla pat of his chest with his fist and held his fist up to the crowd, was a lovely moment. Ramos is cool in a differnet way in that he is classy but I don't think we'll ever get another manager like Martin Jol who the fans adored as much.

O good times!

If hamburg play us I bet they will stuff us.....just cause thats always what happens, and if it does happen I cant say I will be to dissapointed.............I still will be a bit dissapointed at least

Same here mate .

In many ways Martin Jol was a unique manager for our unique club .

He might have taken us to the very top if Lasagnagate had not got in the way .

Great news Martin !

Our own fans won't mind getting stuffed by Hamburg because Jol is in charge, sorry don't get that at all, funny how many are moaning about the results at the end of this season when we had nothing to play for but getting knocked out of the uefa potentially by Hamburg because Jol is in charge doesn't matter.

I think the worry is that we finally have a so-called superstar manager that can't motivate players from one week to the next.

It's not exactly awe inspiring is it, especially when you compare the way that Jol came in from Santini.

By the way: just before the vaginas get all leaky on here, I do think Ramos is quality. But like I said in another thread, it all seems a bit 'meh' in comparison to last year.

the 2nd vid is quality shows just how much we appreciated him. Both quite emotional. Not had the same enthusiam since he left. Next season may be different if we play some beautiful footy and challenge for the top4 but as good or not as Ramos may be, Jol was such a character and it seems strange but i'd probably rather we'd not won the league cup but Jol was still in charge.

Ramos came in and had a run of:Middlesboro,Wigan,West Ham,Birmingham,Man.City,Portsmouth,Arsenal,Fulham,Reading. 9 games, 7 of which are against pretty easy sides. To be fair he won 5 drew 2 and lost 2 but Who says Jol couldn't have done the same.

I wish you'd never mentioned him Lilly I had almost got over the fact he's gone :(

Aw, definitely our most lovable Manager for decades.

Signed a 2 year contract, and glad it's abroad. Couldn't bear to see him manage another team in the Prem.

Good luck to him, hope he leads them to a trophy. I fear for them however if they lose VDV, but maybe he'll replace him with KPB:grin: Nah good luck, would love to meet them in Uefa Cup.

Seriously Im glad this season is over but some fans can't face facts and accept we were going to struggle in the league when Ramos took over as we were bottom three and had seven points,he got us up the table and won us the carling cup so after that players basically took it easy and made sure we were safe but that was it as we not likely to get top seven so far behind and with some tough games still to come.
This Ramos can't motivate the team stuff is rubbish and I find it rather pathetic fans keep using this because Ramos is not some loveable character who cracks jokes but a serious manager who won us a trophy in four months.

What do fans like you want? Ramos takes over and win a cup in four months and gets us motivated because that squad was so lacking in confidence yet they could come from behind to beat Chelsea but this season is a waste of time and the cup seems long ago when it was the end of February.
People can love Jol all they want but he won nothing and Ramos showed us quickly what it takes by getting a cup,if fans don't like it the cheerful dutchman has gone then tough luck he deserved to go,saying Ramos can't motivate the side is quite funny because why did Jol produce back to back worst ever prem starts and last season when we did get within two points of fourth we went on a 6 game run without a win that costs us a champions league chance and we fell to 11th and had to win 9 out of the last 12 games to scrape uefa footy and 5th place, the collapses for no reason that saw us go back to basics several times were Jol's fault so why could he not motivate a side to stay consistant or start the season fit and ready and fired up instead of that pathetic effort to snatch a point at Sunderland this season.
The Jol lovers can crow about him all they want but he is gone and not to get the I love spurs bullshit from Ramos but instead getting quick success while motivating the side to battle out of relegation and win a cup is pretty good.
Jol loved the club so much he went behind it's back and held talks with Newcastle after Bobby Robson left,if you want a load of ego massaging from a manager but no trophy thats your choice but I can see clearly this season was abour Ramos settling in and getting uefa footy and steering us to safety, next season is exciting and I can't understand why our own fans already are writing us off.

Hope he does well with them and gets the success he deserves...

Would also be great if we drew them in the UEFA Cup, wonderful for the Big Man to come back to the Lane like that, the reception would be awesome...

Tough job at Hamburg, as they are a demanding crowd and are about to sell theri best player. But they are definitely worth a bet now Jol is in charge. There won't be a better appointment for any club this summer.

I can't believe that some our so called fans, instead of praising him for giving us our highest ever Prem finish, decide to criticise him for it. Have a dig at him for starting last season poorly and then criticise him again for rectifying it by producing the best finish to a season in 25 years:roll:. Then despite noting how capable he is at turning things round, say we'd have continued to struggle this season! Saying things like "had to win 9 out of the last 12 games to scrape uefa footy and 5th place" is truely pathetic and suggests that you haven't been watching the club for the last decade.

Before BMJ came along the idea of a so called fan complaining about only scraping 5th place and a UEFA Cup spot would have seemed unimaginable! Oh and if you think we'd have got past Arsenal in the semi's this year without JJ, Berbatov, King and Lennon, as was the case last season, you are insane. We drew 3-3 against Chelsea in the Cup last season. We did this without King and Woodgate, who marshalled Drogba superbly in the final this year. Do you really think we'd have won without them? It's things like this that make the key difference, yet people like you will choose to ignore them and claim Jol wasn't good enough.

Ramos has done a fine job, but don't compare his situation with Jol's. They took over the club in very different stages in our development and the key reason why we were able to attract a coach with Ramos's reputation was the superb job BMJ did and every Spurs fan should thank him for that and wish him the best of luck at Hamburg.
