Predicting the winners and losers of the premier league is a minefield. Any seemingly safe prediction in August can seem crazy in May. Luckily most people forget so the pundits have little to lose. I'm posting this seasons predictions for posterity

NBC's Pro Soccer Talk team have some interesting predictions, but it's interesting that two of the six writers think Spurs will finish 4th but only three think that Arsenal will finish in the top 4. What's really interesting/crazy is that one writer thinks Everton will finish ahead of both of us and take 4th spot. Two think that Liverpool will finish above us and one of those thinks Everton will also finish above us. I'm not sure if I've missed the revolution at Everton and Liverpool but I wouldn't predict they'll finish above us.

Football365 are a little kinder, five of the nine writers say Spurs will finish top 4 and the other four say Arsenal. I assume they would have put the other team in 5th place but they don't say

The guardian don't tell us what each writer believes but they do tell us the prevailing opinion in their season preview. They have us as 4th and Arsenal as 5th. The always beautiful Louise Taylor thinks we'll win the league and I wouldn't disagree

BBC sport's Phill McNulty also thinks we'll finish 4th ahead of Arsenal

The BBC are promoting the hashtag #plpredictions and asking for top 4/bottom 3 predictions. Generally other fans seem to think we'll pip Arsenal to 4th, in line with the pundits predictions

From Lawro's predictions this week

Last week I said Arsenal would finish fourth - but on the back of the spate of Spurs signings, I would have to change that and go for them to finish in that spot, pushing on for third.

Epic trolling of the goons. I didn't see him predict them for 4th but I suppose this is nice. If the signings changed his mind then why didn't he say this last week? Haven't signed anyone since last Thursday and knew Capoue was signing

I've just seen this video. Savage has us 4th but Lawro doesn't, although he changed his mind as noted above. Today there was this video where savage doesn't think we can bridge the gap into the top 3, not exactly a huge gap though, is it!

EDIT: Savage has done another prediction, post-window, and he know thinks Liverpool will be 4th followed by Arsenal then us. Given that we've bought 3 players and Arsenal have smashed their transfer record it's a bit stranger

Michael Owen, on Match of the Day 3 (22/9), thinks Man U are in big trouble and he can see Spurs in the top 3 this season.

People on this forum get upset if some like Lawro say we wont beat so and so or We wont make top 4 etc. So fucking what! I am also in the who gives a shit what 'pundits' think camp? I'm more interested in the opinions of (sensible) Spurs fans. I do think United will struggle this season but can't yet see them outside the top 4. I think Arsenal will fade and Liverpool will probably run out of gas too but both will be thereabouts. We could see record closeness between top 6 finishing points count. I am going for Man City winners, Chelsea runners up, Spurs third, United 4, arsenal 5 and Liverpool 6 with a large gap to 7th.
