Well I think Poch got that wrong. I understand the need to rotate and rest, but we were far too lightweight in the middle. I would have bought in Bentaleb with Mason in the middle and set up pretty much like Leicester have all season and tried to hit them on the break. Bit gutted we didn't restrict them to 2 or nick an away goal. Pretty much impossible mountain to climb now. Still, they were quality and the silver lining is we can focus on the league (assuming a miracle doesn't happen next week!)

Even though it was a poor side Poch put out tonight I think it shows we are not ready yet for the top sides in CL. Dortmund are a good side but not in the top 4 or 5 in Europe.

I'd say Dortmund are the 5th or 6th best side in Europe. Bayern, juve, barca, atleti, real, psg and Dortmund in no particular order, are the best in the world

I thought the game tonight was like watching ManU v Spurs from 12 years ago. They were much better than us but they got loads of decisions their way. It was very difficult to build any pressure. It does show though that we don't have any other proper defensive midfielders in the squad apart from Dier. Carroll and Mason just don't have the strength to play that role. Not sure if either will be at Spurs in 2 years time.

Actually free really annoyed at team selection tonight at what point did mopo think that midfield selection would trouble a regular champions league team who drew with Bayern recently ,sorry we should have gone strongest line up and gone toe to toe if then we had been beaten say 2-1 would have said ok beaten by a better side but at no stage did we give them a game today and I know we've got top 4 aspirations and a game Sunday but if we can't beat villa then somethings wrong
Rant over bah humbug!!!

Yep to me it showed the holes in the squad that need filling, a DM, CB and a striker. The rest we are probably ok with

I think Poch massively underrated & somewhat disrespected a team which is up there with the best or certainly next tier and was hoping our patchwork team could do enough, maybe draw or lose by an odd goal. I'm not going to dig him out because he's leading a season way above my expectations and doesn't often get things wrong but disappointed is an understatement of my feelings both when I saw our lineup and then watched the game unfold

Well kudos to the BBC for changing their match caption from 'Spurs outclassed in Dortmund' to 'Much-changed Spurs outclassed in Dortmund'.

For those saying that "Poch can't win" as we would have moaned about players needing a rest. That's crap. We should have had a massive European game tonight but instead it was a non event because of the horrible team selection. These nights are important, and it's not like we have Chelsea or Liverpool next we have Villa. The ref didn't help but that was a shocking watch.
The point is that we have Villa after a EL game against one of the best teams in Europe. We already have fatigued players, so to lose against Villa due to fatigue would be careless.

That was utter, utter bollocks.

They pretend they're taking it seriously, big the game up all week so everyone buys tickets for the return leg and they then put out that disgraceful team against Borussia fucking Dortmund.

They should give the fans that went tonight all their money back and give everyone who has bought a ticket for next Thursday the option for a refund too.

Fucking disgraceful.

The other annoying thing about the game is we have no other strategy. If the other team are really good on the ball don't chase them but filter back and let them come on to us. And we are very one paced as well. There is no real out and out pace in the team so it was easy for Dortmund to push up. We are a really good team without really top notch players.

I think the subs were panic to try and save face because Poch probably thought it would end up a hammering.

I think Poch (before the spam and scum games) had probably overestimated our fitness and underestimated how bad our backup options are. I think after the West Ham and Arsenal game it probably made him think "I can't risk my best players or this season may turn really bad really fast" hence the team tonight. We should have just dropped out of the comp earlier however if this was going to end up being the case, we all knew Dembele, Kane would be run into the ground come the run in if we continued in the EL.

Well yeah, that's basically what I'm saying, which isn't very encouraging.

Good job we've got Villa on the weekend or things could end up going sour quite fast.

Yep, we are very thin in certain areas of the squad, everyone knows about the lack of cover for Kane but I think cover for Dier and Dembele is just as important and needs to be addressed in the summer. Let's hope Ball can be the Dier back up.

Yep. And with that line-up tonite I feel Pochettino basically wanted us out. His and our focus is now totally on the league. We have 9 cup finals left. All still to play for.
It's worth remembering what he thought of the EL when at Southampton. We are not helped by the PL by a) not letting EL teams play on Mondays and b) not having a winter break.

Sorry, who is 'they'? Because I'm not sure Poch cares about ticket promotion, and the social media team don't pick the starting XI.

Reckless. Negligent. Arrogant.
First time I've been pissed off with Poch. I'm sure Carroll and Mason could have done a job at Villa..
