That paul guy has made a lot of old mma fighters look bad. It just makes me think that they aren't paid enough. They should be able to retire without having to do stuff like this.

Yeah MMA fighters are drastically underpaid. UFC’s % of its profits gross and net, that it pays out to its fighters is well well below any of the averages for other US sports and basically well any sport. It has its benefits for us the viewer being centralised and different to boxings self promoting which causes so many fights not to happen, but a lot of these guys are barely paying their life bills AND bills for training, management etc. The very top draws get rewarded, a small clutch of long standing Midcard type people have slowly worked their way on to okay fees, but the vast majority get screwed. Plus, half to show half to win is a shit way to run things.

As for Paul, he’s young, rich and can afford the best trainers and has dedicated himself to boxing fully for a number of years now. It’s no surprise that he’s winning when hie cherry picks UFC fighters that fall under one or many of the following categories ….

1. Way past their prime ( Silva, Woodley, Askren )

2. Physically a lot smaller than him ( Diaz, Askren, Woodley, )

3. Pure stand up skills not being their strength

- Askren might be the worst striker in MMA history
- Woodley was first and foremost a wrestler that had success standing up because of KO power and threat of the takedown but his striking was essentially basic
- Diaz, again, his best asset is BJJ, his striking only saw some success because of his stamina and opponents having to respect various disciplines

Only Anderson Silva WAS an elite striker and he was nigh on 50 years old when they fought.

Robert Helenius as a replacement for Whyte... Massively underwhelming considering his last fight was on Saturday too!

Not sure how this is a PPV fight and I doubt they're going to offer a partial refund considering we've forked out good money for our seats... Gutted.

Ok, so it's no longer PPV and they might be offering partial refunds :cautious:

Anyone watch the Chisora vs Washington fight? I thought Washington won a close fight personally, outboxed him for the majority IMO. The judge that scored it 98-93 to Chisora is smoking some good shit, never won that fight by that much. They’ve got to do something about the standard of judging in boxing, way too often there are scandalous decisions

I don't know much about boxing, but would think Joshua MUST have a super convincing fight here with an early KO?

Shit fight great punch to finish it.
The thing that’s gonna get Joshua KO’d against Wilder is his slow feet. It’s always been the problem for him. Wilder closes the distance very quick and shoots that right hand with so much speed I just can’t see a way Joshua makes it throw the fight without getting caught by it

Sick of the heavyweight division, total farce.
AJ beats a guy who fought just 2 weeks ago, replacing a guy who failed a drugs test who he beat a few years back already. All for a fight against a guy in Saudi, who's been beaten 3 times by a guy (the bloody heavyweight champion) who's gonna fight an MMA fighter, who as far as I'm aware has never had a professional boxing match. Ridiculous

Lol, I'm looking forward to Wilder vs Joshua; if only to see the latter KO'd into retirement.

If you really enjoy big high class clashes I think the light-heavyweight division is gonna be the one to watch for a little while now. Buatsi, Smith and Yarde alone in the UK are all excellent fighters and there’s also Beterbiev and Bivol outside of that. It’s a really high quality division right now and is going to produce some really good fights for the next 5-6 years while these guys are in their prime

AJ didn’t look great. I get taking your time to work your opponent out but his footwork and reactions looked really slow.

AJ vs Wilder is still a very large fight. Wilder must be delighted at such a big payday for a fight he can be very confident to win.
