What are the thoughts on the starting line up? ...Before the benefit of hindsight.

Bale in to replace Kane as the player dropping deep and playing Sissoko as a Defensive Winger at RWB to give Bale more protection.

Sanchez and Rodon either side of Toby to counter the pace of Maupay and Trossard. I expect us to play a higher line with those two.

Vinicius on the bench for a target option when Bale tires. We'll probably see both him and Doherty come on in the second half.

Seems a smart and logical choice.

Get that bus parked nice and early.

Honestly, what’s the point of Vinicius? If he can’t get a minute when Kane is out. Surely that was his one remit for the season.

Those summer signings of Doherty and Vinicius are proving great value. Not even deemed good enough to start as Plan B when plan A is out of the team.

Let’s not shit the bed about Vinicius just yet. Doherty has been awful, but Vinicius has been decent when he’s played.

If Sanchez is on the left of the back 3 he will give the ball away more times than not. For him to have a half decent game he needs to be central so that he has an easy pass left or right

Sanchez will start at right-back and it's not the first time either. It happened once in the past. I don't remember who was the opponent but I remember myself hiding behind the sofa for 90 minutes.

Dier dropped. Aurier not in squad.
Surely it’s:
Lloris
Toby Sanchez Rodon
Sissoko Davies
Hojbjerg Ndombele
Bale Bergwijn
Son

???

I would say

Lloris
Sanchez Rodon Toby
Sissoko.....................Davies
Hojbjerg Ndombele
Bergwijn...............Son
Bale

Don't think I've ever been so confused as to how we'll line up for a match.

No Vinni, i must admit that I’m not surprised. Happy to see Bale getting a first starter

Fucking incredible that we spent YEARS looking for a competent backup for Kane, finally fucking find one, and he can’t even get a game when Harry is injured.

I sincerely hope it won’t matter and we’ll find a way to win. But if the second half against Liverpool is any indication I’m expecting another dogshit performance. Jose’s tactics, to the extent that they can be said to entail any semblance of an attacking identity, are reliant on the No. 9 holding the ball up and bringing others into play.

That starting 11 could have been a lot worse.
wasn’t expecting Sanchez, or sissoko at rwb

but 343 with that personnel against Brighton could work nicely

which points to a 0-1 (plus a red and /or injury)
