Hopefully no long term effects from covid for any of the positive cases. I know too many people with long covid, and I'm talking fit and healthy people under 30. Scary shit. Hopefully everyone makes a speedy recovery. Health always comes first.

This isn't me taking the piss but I strongly believe Doherty is one of the ones with long covid

Isn’t there a mandatory 10 day isolation regardless? That means they’d all miss the Leicester game too

would also mean no training before the Liverpool game

Noone really knows but when son was alleged to have it he had a test a couple of days after which was negative so was able to train/play. Not sure if things have changed since then but that was earlier this season

I wouldn't be surprised, but he does manage to perform for Ireland. He was hitting form before he got covid. I think and hope his issue is more relating to confidence which I see Conte being able to help with.

Sounds like a very large number of cases. Hope no one's got bad symptoms, obviously very possible. Lots of footballers have suffered badly from long covid particularly.

But none have been hospitalised I believe except Saint maximum but that was before jabs were available

No but Ben Godfrey for example says it's taken him months and months to feel anywhere near fit again after covid.

Less games for Romero to miss hopefully at least!
Also, more games to play with new reinforcements in Jan too!

I prefer three but would like keeper changes exempt. To me, Harry's adventure at goalkeeping a few years was a joke. You ought to be able to replace your keeper in that situation.
Back when the MLS had it's own rules to try and appeal to American fans, we had a rule where you you were allowed a fourth sub that could only be used for a goalkeeper. Well Bob Bradley's NY/NJ Metrostars were down a man and the game was already in "sudden death" overtime (there were also no ties allowed, so they did 10 minutes of golden goal followed by a hockey style shootout ...). Cheatin' Bob moved GK Tim Howard to midfield and Howard passed over the gloves to midfielder Mark Lisi who went into goal. He subbed out Lisi for Eddie Gavin. Gavin comes in and swaps the gloves back to Howard and then goes on to score the winner over D.C. United. Obviously you could write a rule that would forbid that kind of crap, but every time I hear someone suggest something like this, I always think of this story. MLS might not be the best league in the world, but it is entertaining.

I think the five subs rule will change next season given the circumstances around the world cup etc - there are more and more games now and three subs is pretty archaic.
Five subs will mainly benefit chelsea, citeh, man U and in the future Newcastle too. Those with the money will have larger squads.
I think three is more than enough. Now we have 9 subs allowed to be on the bench, I would like to see a rule that a minimum of 2 or 3 of the 9 need to be linked to the Home Grown for Club rule having come through the academy and under 21 year old. however, i know that there are flaws in that clubs will limit loan deals or playing time for the U23s for any half decent academy player as they will want them available for their match day squad.

If they find out it is the Omricon strain then it is definitely going to be called off, whole squad would have to isolate

Yep, if it's Omicron then no Prem team will want to play us till we get the all clear. That's so transmissible, a real risk opposing players would be vulnerable

no chance this game goes ahead
Or the Leicester game in 8 days time. I can't see us playing again until Liverpool at the earliest.

Even that is pushing it as who knows how these players energy levels will be affected by Covid.

Yep, Brighton and Leicester will surely be postponed
Hopefully players can train invidually, but we will be disadvantaged if the Pool game goes ahead, which ATM I think it will.

Conte will be rightly angry.
Let's hope common sense prevails and our next three games are postponed, then hopefully we are fit to go again
