It's still not clear whether Sky customers (with Sky broadband) can watch the Champions League games in HD, if not then I'll only subscribe to the other stuff that is in HD when the new season starts.

So if BT were charging £10 and are adding £5 that's £15 which surely is still £10 less than sky sports, result! or does anyone actually get sky sports for any other sport?

The NFL and Formula 1 are the other sports that I watch consistently on Sky Sports.

When I eventually sign up for BT it'll mainly be for mainly European football (domestic) and the NBA.

Yes, if it's the game which is on BT Sport. If you want to pick one of the other games on that night, which will be on the red button, that will be in SD. A bit like it is now with Sky.

I've seen what BT are doing with it on YouView, it's really smart. All games in HD, with a really good look and feel. Loads of extra features you will be able to see the goals as they happen if you so wished.

They haven't released the price yet for just the channels for Sky (no BT broadband or BT TV) but it could be north of £20 per month eventually, which would be ridiculous, and I really would not know what to do.

So how much in total would the BT sports and internet package be?

Free. £4/month for HD (and 4K).

£17 line rental+£12.40 for internet. You get BT Sport, unlimited 38Mbps fibre optic broadband and weekend calls. Plus a free £60 Sainsbury's gift card.

Ends 18th June

Do you need a specific hub for 4k or will it work with a standard BT HD box?

A new YouView hub that hasn't been announced by YouView, yet. BT jumped the gun there.

But for 4K you need a newer 4K TV. The early ones, even up to late 2014 models, don't support 4K at above 25fps. Sport needs far higher frame rates than that. Sky said "If you got yours in 2013, 2014 or even possibly in spring sales this year, sorry, it won't do sport".

Don't worry give it a couple of years and they'll probably be on BT as well:)
I prefer MLB myself so BT/ESPN coverage of that is a result for me.
My prediction is that the Murdoch empire will be lobbying the government hard to legislate against BT soon as payback for it's support, watch this space!

Dropping Sky Sports in October I think (when my current offer expires).
Lots of bitching from Sky Execs, claiming that BT have bought a dud as viewing figures plummeted for CL fixtures last season.
BT bit back saying 5+ million watched the final on ITV, only 650,000 on Sky.
That in itself shows who BT are robbing by taking all the coverage.... the ITV watching public.
Sky subscribers won't be particulary bothered as it's likely to just be an extra £5 to watch the BT games.
ITV viewers on the other hand need to take up BT broadband and TV in order to watch the games.

BT Sport don't offer enough for me to give them any money.
I don't really watch the CL games as it is, and as for US Sports, I tend to be sleeping when those are shown.

Internet will serve me well for anything I do want to watch.

No, they're not. At least 12 CL games will be broadcast free and at least 14 EL games.

I think 12 is more than the current number, no?

Skysports has boxing, NFL

Cricket and Rugby League I guess, though I don't watch either

BT Sports has UFC, NBA that I watch

The football is now becoming increasingly split between the two (and still we don't have access to all Spurs games like people in other countries do)

I personally think you should be able to buy a season ticket to watch all your teams matches, it would go someway to combat all the people watching illegal streams

I don't think it would have an adverse effect on attendances either - I wouldn't stop going to games live but now days I rarely go to away games and I no longer have a season ticket so I don't go to White Hart Lane half the time either anymore and I would prefer to have access to the games on TV when I'm not at the match than watch on a low quality dodgy stream, I'd happily pay for a Spurs televised season ticket

I think it's less than ITV because of the way UEFA stagger the latter stages.
I'm thinking it was 6 x Group, 2 x 2nd round, 4 x Quarters, 2 x Semi & the Final.

Either way, not really affecting me as the final was the only game I watched.
I've stopped watching PL games on Sky unless we are being shown.

But how many of those 5+ million have BT broadband anyway though.
I got rid of sky sports last summer just before BT sport started because £25 a month was daft just to watch maybe half a dozen Spurs games at most, I go to all the home games so its just the odd away game that I used to watch.
As a BT broadband customer its a bit of a no brainer for me, almost a win win alll the way, now if they could just they could get the T20 Blast for next season :)

Of course, those with BT Broadband already are outright winners and that's fair enough.
Personally I'm not convinced BT will have high enough viewing figures from their European coverage to maintain it being "free".
49 of the 50 most watch PL games last season were viewed on Sky.
3.1 million people watched Chelsea v United in October.
BT's highest figure, out of 38 games shown on BT, was 1.7 million for us against Chelsea.
Only two of Sky's CL games would have made it into the top 50, which does suggest that maybe BT have bought a dud.

I wouldn't class it as a dud but I don't think it'll get the viewing figures they desire, they may view it as a loss leader.

The stats that Sky put out are true but that's also sour grapes from them, they did an excellent job with the Champions League, just bow out gracefully.

They better retain La Liga, Revista must continue.
