Yeah I noticed it on MotD yesterday. Really not keen on the lower angle. Too similar to the old Highbury camera angle, plus you can see more of what is going on when the camera is higher up.

That's because the cameras are now in front of the Executive boxes (or whatever they're called) rather than further up in what used to be the camera gantry. Could clearly see where they were on the East Stand side in particular.

There were people watching the game from up in the gantry but they didn't seem to have cameras.

Two reasons it's like that:

1) In Europe needed to show the advertising boards clearer
2) For Sky it's for their 3D cameras and probably saves on having two feeds for non 3D

Have seen games at that angle long before 3D came in. Think its more to do with advertising. Only ususally get it for europe tho

Noticed it on MotD last night, must say I started to go all misty eyed.

Watching through half-closed eyes it was like I was back in 1975 and viewing the match from up on 'The shelf'.

its a shite shite horrible angle. I hate it, really hope they dont start using it more next season.

Makes it so hard to judge distances on the far side of the pitch

Sky seemed more interested in filming the draft Brummies in fancy dress than focusing on the game. If the camera was not on them it was on the dodgy looking owner whose arse was twitching faster than Harry's face.

it's not usual for a league game though. i guess the 3d camera thing might be more relevant an excuse for yesterday. i'd expect domestic games to be back you on the high angle for sky games next season. No worries

No a big fan of that angle, but I'm afraid we're gonna have to get use to it. I can't see them reverting to the higher angle.

The big screen was flicking between the two.

I quite like it personally, they first used it when we played FC Twente I believe though.

Yes thought exactly the same. I kept doing a double-take during the MOTD coverage when it kept switching from game to game. Awful angle - like the Library

Ironically, however, I don't see anybody moan about even worse viewing angles when they sit in the lower tier (ticket I have borrowed a fair bit is in front row West Stand lower). Or whether, as I often argue, the manager can really appreciate the way the game is going with such a poor view

I don't know if there are any stats on which direction we have started in most frequently but I always wondered whether Martin Jol used to favour Steed Malbranque because we attacked the away end in the first half and he couldn't see the acres of space that he failed to exploit and all of the blind alleys he would run in to.

He would then promptly be subbed after < 15 mins when he was in front of the dugout, perhaps under the assumption that he had simply tired :)

i,m glad i am not the only who hates this angle. Hope it goes back to the usual angle next season. When pav scored his first goal u couldnt see if it was going in from that angle.
