Spurs fans at the Pompey game

On Radio 5 Live this morning Sol Scumbell was complaining about the verbal abuse that football players receive during games, and that it should be stamped out by the authorities. Could this have anything to do with the fact that he still has spurs chants ringing in his ears from last weekend ?????!!!!!

I wasn't at the game so am wondering if those that did make the journey can verify if the usual vitriol was being fired in his direction.

He got the full lot but we weren't to blame. The Pompey DJ put on DJ Otzi before the game so we were provoked!

Nah, I cant. But while we're at it: How many did really go down there? Just watched the goal, but looked like we were quite a few people in the stands...

We gave him what he deserved and we were plenty down there, we'd sold out our allocation

"It's out of hand now," the Portsmouth and England defender told BBC Radio 4.
"We can all take the booing or light banter, but when it gets to the realms of verbal abuse it's a bridge too far."
He added: "You get to the stage when people say you've got to be immune to this.
"I may be immine to this but I'm playing football and should not be subjected to that type of abuse.
"I am an international player who has given his whole career to club and country. I think I deserve more than this.
"I know some people may be a little bit disgruntled at how I left certain clubs. I totally understand that.
"But when you get to the level of personal abuse that I and other players are subjected to, it's got to stop now.

Lets give him even more of this when he comes back again!!

Let's not. He's right. Most of us are bigger than the minority that insist on giving the kind of stick out to a former player that most would insist on that person being thrown out of the ground for if it weren't a Spurs fan.

I never heckle him, or sing those disgusting songs about him, but he's still a fucking ****.

Like a lying whore who shags your worst enemy behind your back and then leaves you.

Not sure about the minority.

The abuse was pretty much to a man at Pompey.

For me it is not only the fact that he went to the scum but as a few have already said it is the manner in which he done it. A few players have made the switch between the two clubs without receiving the sustained abuse that he has.
At the time of his switch he was banging on about his love for the club and how he was going to stay put. Then with any of the top clubs at his disposal he chose to move to them. :eek:mg: Is this guy as stupid as he sounds? :bang: I can't believe he is now saying that it is over the top!

Or to put it another way: "Sol. You poor dear. If only you could have done something to prevent it happening".

No doubt he didn't think about the years of well-deserved abuse ahead when he read his fist pay cheque.

'Some', 'Little' 'Disgruntled'
Words that come nowhere near the actual feelings of the majority. What fantasy world does he live in. Oh yeh, I remember.
