The bloke spits on Tevez in the Champion's League final and then get's selected to represent our country as captain?? WTF?!

I won't exactly be rushing to the nearest TV set to watch these prima donnas in the USA. I dislike so many England players these days, I just don't enjoy it watching it anymore... which is sad, but true.

I feel really let down by this, Capello initally really gave me the impression that the England captaincy as a job he took really seriously and that the person who he gave it to would have to be more than just a leader on the pitch.

John Terry is a Thug, he chooses to park his car in Disabled spaces (so do I, but i'm not suitable for the captiancy either) he's rumoured to be a rascist, spits at other players, but yet he press hail him as an English Lion, and won't have a bad word said against him. Why is this.

If John Terry is the person that Capello wants to be England Captain then he is not the man I thought he was.

I understand for England that you need the best 11 players on the pitch which While LK is injured means JT is in there on merit, but for the captaincy of your country I think you need to be more than just a good leader. John Terry could still be a good leader for England and not be the captain of his country.

Its only for one game IMO. If Rio gets it it will be a tragady, same with Terry

Rio has previous too. Drug tests being missed for which he served an eight month ban from professional football.

John Terry is a thug on the park and an obnoxious twat off it.

Steve Gerrard could almost win it by default, except he should be the rightful owner of the armband anyway.

Sounds like a reasonable representation of the country in general at the moment to me. Unfortunately.

This decision merely cements my decision not to watch tomorrow.

I second that.

A if. Gerrard has been involved with Liverpool undergrounders for as long as I can remember. He's fucking shady and so is his Mrs and her friends.

Captaincy needs to go to a player with an unblemished record. Someone that makes the first eleven everytime, coupled with the fact they don't have a bad injury record.

Hypothetical, because it's bound to be one of Terry, Rio, and G. But I remember being shocked when Beckham first got the captaincy.

Blah....why am I wasting my time on this subject...as a I already stated I have no time for this generation of England players. Roll on Euro 2012, cos these wankers are still going to be here in 2010!! I hope then, we have a side of players we can get behind.

My fire burned bright massively in '96, in '98 too. We crashed out in 2000, but we still had players that played for the country. 2002 was the start of the golden generation and it all looked hopeful. 2004 was the beginning of a slippery slope, realisation of just how pathetically overrated this "golden generation" were.

Would love to be hopeful of success in the next World Cup, my last major tournament before I'm 30, but I guess I'm just going to have to hope for an England side I can truly say I love, in the Euro's, when I'm 31!

Anyway.....

Steven Gerrard is the perfect example both on and off the pitch. He is also England's best player. Just give him the armband

Apart from the diving. Oh, sorry I forgot, its only Johnny Foreigner who dives.

Personally I would like to see Rio get it. Yes he missed a drugs test but he served his time and isn't one of these players that the media adore. I'm fed up with how players like Terry, Gerrard, Owen, etc., are portayed as whiter than white in the media.

Just don't bloody have a captain. The media are only going to lambast them anyway, regardless of the fact they'll by definition be a total arsehole. Send out the mascot to do the coin toss. Other than that the captaincy is almost redundant anyway.

In Capello's defence I think he kind of had to let Terry have one match having given Gerrard and River a go. Rooney probably deserves at least one match with it, too. And maybe Hargreaves. But definitely no Spurs players. I don't want any of our boys ruined by the black hole of our pathetic national side.

Apart from the fact that I dont park in disabled spaces, I absolutely agree with everything you have said and I share your sentiments!

Looks like no one deserves it judging by the standards you lot expect.

Capel said it would be rotated until he makes a decision on his permanant captain. JT's turn, simple as that.

For a manager, he needs to help JT over come his penalty miss, love or hate the guy, you have to give him respect for not only stepping up to take the 5th penalty, but being on the pitch in the first place, as he dislocated his elbow a week before...

Yes he can be an arse, but your only getting the picture from the media, which many of you love to bash as well.

My brother meets JT and the chelsea boys quite often, and said at first he came across as an arrogant tosser, but over the season, he said he is a really decent bloke, always polite, asking him how he is, and that he isn't like it at all, just has that arrogant look I guess.

Sorry dude.

I do kinda agree with you all though.
Shame Ledley has remained fit over the last 3 seasons or so, no doubt he would have been a starter/contender for captain if he had.

Unfortunately its all could have/should had/if only....
