I live on the east coast of the US so kickoff is 2:45pm here. Should be 7:45pm London time.
I was being dim. Forget there was a new world. At least I can take comfort in knowing the sun and planets still revolve around the earth.
To be fair after last night most of us here in the US have opted to forget football exists here as well.
Spurs friendly Pub within 5 minutes walk of the Bernabeu.
An excellent bar to assemble in before the game and to meet up in later.
My daughter Liz the Manager of the Irish Rover which some of you will already know
extends her usual warm welcome to Spurs fans next week.
Special Football deals:
Excellent Burgers, chips and a pint 10 Euros (Heineken): 10.50 (Guinness)
Bucket of 5 Amstels on ice for 12 Euros.
Heineken is 5euros a pint and Guinness is 5.50 which is not bad for Madrid and this area.
Kitchen will be open until 1am on Match day and the bar until 3or 4am.as usual.
There will be some English speaking staff on duty.
Opposite the Stadium across the Castellana. (six lanes: wait for the green lights)
Down the side of the Ministry of Defence.
Over the first traffic lights and the Irish Rover is in the corner of the square on the left,
5 minutes walk max.
Spanish food available.
Menu del Dia from 12pm for 9.50 Euros before 1.30 and 10.50 Euros after.
Plenty of screens and an atrium entry bar for smokers and screens and a terrace upstairs.
Don't actually agree with that as an absolute rule. Some topics, that also have political impact, ought to be addressed in and through sport. Other battles are probably better left alone. For instance Catalonia's independence (as much as I completely support them if they want to become their own nation), is probably better left alone when visiting Madrid.
I’d agree with this. There is absolutely a place in sport for movements such as anti-homophobia, anti-racism, gender equality etc. I absolutely stand behind the NFL players in their current situation in America for example. But politics at the level of one nation seeking independence from another shouldn’t really play a part, and certainly not purely for the sake of us winding up Madrid fans.
Spurs fans will head to Plaza Mayor like we did in 2011. Loads of bars all round the edge, or most will probably do the usual and buy cans in a nearby offy and save some cash.
It was a scorcher last time and is meant to be mid-20s this week too so expecting more scenes like this:
I hear a big snake eats the moon, then slowy throws it back up once a month
Was a great day. Remember us singing "we want to stay here" and meaning it. Opposite to the pissing rain for the ac milan game.
Brits and their temperature sensitivities. It was probably closer to a nice spring day, as is usually the case for early April.
You have plenty of time to do both.
The Irish Rover is close to the Bernabeu
where you are presumably going to watch the match.
Yeah, last time I spent the afternoon in the Plaza Mayor and then went to the Irish Rover a couple of hours before KO. Both were great fun.
We are advancing from the group stage. You heard it here first.
Dortmund dropping points is as huge as that point gained in Madrid. Freedom for the Madrid at Wembley game whatever the result.
Champions league 17/18?
Ours ain't it?
If teams are level is it head to head or goal diff ?
Just looking at the CL table...
Dortmund essentially have to win all the remaining 3 games & hope Spurs drop points to APOEL to qualify ahead.
We need to focus now on topping the table than worrying about finishing ahead of Dortmund
Well, here is the UEFA rules...
According to this, if group stage finishes today, we top the group, due to rule 17.01.D - That away goal today gives us the edge
Separate names with a comma.
