chelsea played negative over the 2 legs? they had 10 times more shots on target, while barcelona had none until the goal.

barcelona have been exposed in that they need henry to play free flowing attacking football, take one of henry, messi or eto'o away and they are not as good as normal.
What's strange about that??

Cheatski playing with 11 men behind the ball and going on counterattacks against a team trying to attack with alot of people? A Barca without their 2 worldclass CB's for most of the time.

Take out that thug Terry and Chelskis defence is weakened. Easy as that......and you can do your kind of math with every team in the world.

Øvrebø is a very experienced ref on international level. Lots of world cup and euro qualifiers, UEFA-cup semi, champ league quarters and semi, and two games in the Euro 2008. The fact that he is a ref in the Norwegian league, does'nt alone mean he's not good enough at this level. He has a good reputation, but yesterday he was poor.

The World Cup and Euro qualifiers he has reffed include:

Belarus-Wales
Bosnia-Austria
Cyprus-Slovenia
Belarus-Netherlands
Georgia-Russia
Hungary-Iceland
Macedonia-Romania

I could go on .... More recently he's had higher profile games including Italy-Romania at Euro 2008 in which he disallowed an Italy goal, apologised after the game and was excluded from the roster for the rest of the competition.

Experience in these games does not qualify the man for a European semi-final. Given he also ballsed up the next biggest game in his career, he's not fit to officiate at that level. Chelsea have been dealt a harsh hand. I'm glad they're not going to Rome and the final will be a better game for it but it doesn't make it right. Chelsea set out their stall to nullify Barca and did a good job of it. They could have got there despite the referee, especially after the ridiculous Abidal sending-off but none of that takes away the fact that the referee had a huge influence on the result.

As for those on here criticising Chelsea for defensive tactics - remember our 0-0 at the Bridge under Jol??? Mourinho complaining about parking the bus??? Many here were certainly happy with that result and we never looked like scoring ....

Handball doesnt necessary mean penalty... All the handballs were not intentional the blast from ballack at the end was going into the z-row and eto was facing away. I think this is how the ref judged whether its a penalty. In other words a ball to hand

He won't get big game experience until he gets a big game  He has one now, does that mean he's more prepared the next time a big game comes up?

Ok, the international games is'nt exactly top drawer, but he has done well on the highest level before (knock-out stages in both UEFA and CL)

And one more thing... I don't think it's the pace of the game that he is'nt fit for. He had as far as I could see a good view on the incidents, but made a couple of poor decisions.

He should ref the final, now he's got his mistakes out of his system he should be perfect.

I don't think anyone can remember that and if they can then they are deluded or liars.

We parked the bus under Santini, not Jol.

Was that not Santini in charge? To be honest though, managers that have Spurs playing that way dont last long. The fans didn't exactly take to Graham or Santini. I prefer to see us go out and play myself. We did that against Man Utd, and were doing a good job of it for an hour. Not many teams play that way at Old Trafford. But thats why i love Spurs. To dare is to do and all that. And we all know the famous Blanchflower quote about playing with style and not waiting for the opposition to die of boredom.

:)So Chelsea feel robbed?
Now they know how Marks & Spencer's felt when John Terry's mum popped in!

Typical tbh. A couple of acquaintances of mine were at the game and got death threats from a couple of Chelsea fans on the way back to the tube. Luckily the Police were nearby and put a stop to it before it escalated.

Its a disgrace that some fans make threats to murdering someone just because they lost. Just because they are chelsea doesnt mean decision wont go against them. I have a feeling that the ref would resign and hopefully things will cool down soon.

"Afterwards, Ovrebo admitted he had made a mistake and was not assigned any more tournament matches. He is also said to have admitted to Uefa officials after last night's match that he made some major mistakes."

yea, was never a freekick and a sending off....

Based on what? The fact that Chelsea defended for their lives against a superior attacking team? They drew both games anyway.

But Barca are by far the best team in Spain and Chelsea are the third best here. Of course Barca are superior to them attacking wise but they would struggle to match Liverpool or Chelsea themselves throughout an entire season against strong defensive sides and I think United are a far better team. Not a far better attacking force, few if any are, but a team- better keeper, much better defence and better defensive midfielders.

The flip side and more pertinent comparison to your comment is Liverpool against Real Madrid. They anihilated them. The Spanish League, having always been dominated by Madrid/Barca, is becoming weaker and weaker. It probably is a second but certainly a distant second for overall quality and competitiveness.

Why is he a thug, at least you are admitting he is a good defender.

Just because you claim a penalty, doesn't mean you deserve one. The Pique one was the only one I'd have given.

The second one in the first half was a definite penalty. So you would have given one penalty- that would have been enough.

pique's handball should have been a penalty, as should Eto'o's as he clearly ran out and put his arms up high... when Alvez blocked someone off it should have been a penalty too....
