It just goes to show how much of result that 3-2 win at Leicester was because we all knew we were getting nothing from this game.

Whilst I don't expect us to be favourites against Chelsea, or think we have a divine right to get something out of the game every time we play against them, the way we play against them is shockingly bad and quite frankly embarrassing. We've failed to score a single goal in our last six meetings against them. We have beaten them only once in the last 35 or 36 meetings at Stamford Bridge. These are pathetic statistics by any measure. We seem to act as if we're Crewe Alexandra when we go there, not a top 6 PL club who are going for top 4. If Brighton can give them a bloody game and West Ham can then why the hell can't we ?
Our attitude against them stinks ! What are we going to do, wave a white flag on the FA Cup just because we might end up playing them. Come on Spurs, the gap shouldn't be that huge ! If, and it is a big if, we somehow get ourselves into an FA Cup final and they are they're waiting for us and we're in the FA Cup final I want to see us have a real go at them and if we end up losing, I want to know that we've gone down giving it all we possibly could, what I don't want to see is us pathetically surrendering and going down in a whimper as though we're beat from the moment we step on the pitch.

The most difficult thing to take is the fact they’ve won 3 from 12 (or something like that), but two of them have been us. Not only that, they’ve beaten us twice in the cup in that time too. 4 times in three months, yet everything is seems to be causing them problems. Very disappointing
Yeah just feels like they're a massive bogey team for us at the moment. At least with Liverpool their high line allows us to hit them on the break with runners, and we have a weird knack of beating Man City. Against Chelsea they just starve us of the ball and slowly choke us out.

Massive mistakes, dubious referring and absolute worldies haven't helped our cause, though.

We definitely need more technical players at CM, one who can dictate play and another who creates (because I can’t think of one player that does both).

We’ve needed one for 4/5 years but don’t want to seem to rectify that position. It’s mad.

Don't let it ruin your evening .

Today was all about showing that the club has to mean business this week.

I'm excited because if they didn't know before they know now that conte takes no prisoner's.

Back conte!

How can we be better? We have a brilliant coach and an amazing stadium, the best training ground so what do we need? Ah yes a team. Last on the list……

It's such a long time since Poch's team would give as much as they take (and more) from a Chelsea match. Coming out of our self-imposed decline needs more work with Conte, investment, and much better recruitment. But most of all, we need to cut our losses on so many in the squad....and that is the danger ahead. Getting people out of the club now is really important because we can't proceed with spaces filled up with weak-minded and poor players as we've been doing. We can try to improve a couple of them, but we can't have the situation we currently have where half the team isn't up to it. Bite the bullet Levy, and shift some out in ways that will be a deal for the buying club.

Not a great game for us. They were definitely better but let’s remember they didn’t create a single clear cut change. Ziyech’s goal was what 1 in 10. The free kick was soft and silva gives a massive shove to our defenders (ironically) when he scores. We had a goal disallowed which is 50/50. So bad luck again. However when you give a good team lots of bitty chances eventually you get bad luck. This was actually the case for all three of the recent Chelsea games. They didn’t really create anything. On to the next one!

The three Chelsea games have merely confirmed what we all knew. We are a ways off. It's not just one or two players and it cannot be fixed in one or two windows. Since 2015-2016 we have bought more than 20 players (at large cost) to better this first team. Only Son and Moura have performed as I would have expected.

Hojberg and Reguilon remain inconsistent. Not next level players, IMO.

One could argue that Bergwijn, Sessegnon, Gil could still turn out for the better. Rodon really hasn't been given a chance) Time will tell and I was not even counting them. Nor Romero or Royal - too soon. One could also argue that a few, like Sissoko (who I would never have brought in), Toby were brought in for their purposes as mature, consistent players, did as expected, and were then moved on.

What of the rest? Ndombele, Nkoudou, GLC, Sanchez, Foyth, Doherty, Aurier, Gazzaniga, N'Jie, Janssen, Wanyama..... Take a flyer on one or two at a reasonable, price, ok, but that is a lot of money for players who just can't cut it

Then there are those who just stopped developing - Winks and Dele, to name just two. And, even if one admits that they, along with Dier have looked better under Conte, not sure they are answers. Dier at CB does not scream out top to me.

Disappointing, if not unexpected result today. Very little created, Hard to slag Doherty and Sessegnon as they did not have much occasion to run at anyone. Tanganga needs a loan. Sanchez should never play on the left side. Davies as a LB. Passing is woeful. Every match looks like pre-season with the timing. Too many in the starting XI just aren't good enough. Squad members perhaps, but not to start in games like these.

Going to take some astute purchases and health going forward if we are to get in to the CL this season. Lots of changes needed. Lloris, Skipp, Kane and Son are the only nailed on first XI that I see. With more consistency and attention to detail, perhaps Hojberg and Moura are in there too. Still leaves 5 spots where we just aren't at the level.

Conte, FP and Levy have their work to do

My opinion, for what it is worth.

Just watched the match in full as I couldn’t catch it live. A few things I noted whilst watching which I would have probably posted during the match.

7 wins jn 59(!!) meetings with Chelsea! Knew it was bad but not that bad. Fuck me.
How the fuck was that Kane goal a foul!?
Tanganga is not good
Dier has been one of our best performers this season
Sky hate Spurs
Formation is weird
Ziyech goal was quality. Wow
Kovacic is a baller. We need someone like him desperately
Tanganga needs to come off
Brighton dominated this Chelsea team midweek
We give teams far too much respect. Need to change the mentality more than anything
Of course Silva scored after the Kane decision
Chelsea’s squad is mental
We are shit
PEH has been anonymous this match
Why can’t we press properly? Or are Chelsea that good?
Winks fucking hell
Azpilawanker
Wow Gil that is a strong look

Meh.

Genuine question, does anyone know why Lo Celso was completely omitted from the squad today ?

Imagine that game today with Kane and Bergwijn but with de Bruyne in midfield behind them to play the passes through the defenders how much better would we be? Now scale back from de Bruyne to a player within our firmament and I'm sure you'd find a few before you got back as far as the ones we've got. That's the player(s) we need.
There's been one or two mentions about the Leicester setup but remember today we were facing Thiago Silva and Rudiger whereas at Leicester were were facing Soyuncu and some other bloke.
We've got a way to go but it doesn't matter how far you go if referees disallow goals like that one today, can't remember the last time I've been so angry.
Hopefully the good stuff starts this week.

It's all speculation but since he's declared himself fit on Instagram, and based on Conte's comments in the presser, it looks like Conte wants to move him on this window.

Presumably dropping him was a message to the player and his team, and perhaps even the board, that he's not a part of Conte's plans going forward and they need to start looking for a club ASAP.

The problem is mental. We've an inferiority complex when we face Chelsea over the years, that we have lost even before stepping on the pitch.

Nope. They’ve had a consistently better selection of players. It’s no surprise really.

We are playing without our 2 big money signings in Ndombele and Lo Celso. With them both not looking like they are going to be part of the future, they need to be replaced but I can see with Levy might be resiliant to spend just as much replacing them
