Yep they have an owner that cares.
I was jesting.

I have to say, cares about what ?
For me it’s all about laundering his home land money to fill his and Russian pockets. To spoil football with endless cash that buys results for his own agenda . He needs to invest (to fuel success) to turn the money over it’s not the other way round. Chelsea being successful is the by product. Football is just a business he would’ve invested in British Gas it the turnover was the same.

Socialism didn't work so Capitalism is what they do.

Conte`s interview is not available on official webpage? The club did not like what he said? It was 100% truth but may hurt Levy and co.
Honeymoon is over and now we see the reality.

Look on the bright side,we won't be facing the prospect of facing a resurgent Arsenal in the final, don't think I could take that with this squad at the moment.

2-0 is a dangerous score. Chelsea won’t be able to help thinking they’re already in the final. Full house , White Hart Lane, big atmosphere and an early Spurs goal , first 20 minutes and they’ll find it difficult to get back mentally.
I think our names on the cup. Not joking.

I do feel everyone is missing the point here. I understand the disappointment and the anger in the way we played against Chelsea=it was crap. The result wasn't too bad 2-0 , this is redeemable. We are a decent side at home and with Dier hopefully returning and the team knowing whats need to be done-I really do feel we can turn this around. Last night (and this is not delusional) They were excellent because of us being so poor in the way we played. We allowed them to dominate-we didn't show up. Chelsea have a lot of the ball but do not create good chances - Lloris never had a save to make. They are beatable but you need to get your game together and create and take your chances because they do not create that many.

It was more a case of us being crap than them being excellent.
Good post!
Chelsea were handed two goals. They didn’t score and Lloris had few touches in the first 30 mins when we were ragged.
We do need to come out of the blocks quickly but we’re unfortunate that the mostly solid defence of the last few games was replaced by a makeshift lineup. I really believe we have much better forwards than they do.

Nope not having this why are we surprised bullshit.

They have a better squad but the gulf isnt that big ffs.

They just didnt play better, they wanted it more...which of course always helps performance.

The difference in appetite was stark I thought.

We need rid of some of these players, their attitude isn't good enough.

Conte sounds already like someone just using Spurs to wait for his next job. His negative mindset came out so clearly in his interview. Licking the boots of Chelski is not what I expect from a Spurs manager. You can respect the opposition but not wave a white flag.

He doesn't need to use anyone...his record speaks for itself.

I'm worried that having to go absolute hell for leather in the second leg is going to fuck us up for the NLD.

Yeah, we'll probably do the treble this season.

Did you watch the game? They completely outplayed us with ease. We created absolutely nothing. So where are these goals going to come from?

Only Kane, Son and Loris are good enough to play for Chelsea 2nd 11s. The difference in quality was too high. Spurs recruitment past 4 years has been too poor. Too many grafters with limited technical ability. The technicians that we have signed are just not fit enough.

Chelsea have a better squad than us. We can't afford to have as many key defenders missing as we did
In one sense the fates conspired against us with injuries and illness. But also as has been pointed out they have an owner who has pumped billions into the club to turn them into a football super power
We have owners who have put very little money into the club comparatively speaking, and have slipped way behind a club that for most of my life we outranked.
It's sad for me to contemplate, but it is what it is
Of course spending money in itself is not the answer. It has to be spent well, or has to be spent in such huge amounts that sooner or later you'll get results
“They have an owner who has pumped billions into the club”. I think it would be more accurate to say that they have an owner who has to pump billions into the club. Allegedly, of course.

Yes the defence was make shift but how do you explain our midfield being dominated and our forward line being completely shut out with ease? Our forwards really are not that good.

Right, if that lot can just put the ball in their own net a couple of times next week, we're good to go. :nailbiting:

They're European champions but they're not playing very well at the moment but completely dominated us. I think we got off light under the circumstances but we gave them space to play and pass around us for 90 minutes. I'd have liked us to start with 3 in CM under the circumstances, be that 343 or 352 because Sonny really isn't contributing anything much right now and looks like he desperately needs a rest. Skipp and Hojbjerg couldn't get near them in the middle and we needed that in the away leg.
I think you and I have always been on the same page about a central midfield 3. Its a shame that the only manager who has used it was Nuno... and it worked pretty well until the steam ran out.

Chelsea have been imbalanced for a while, true, thanks to the covid and Lukaku stuff. But then I think the point against Southampton, and the late winner against Watford, has been masking how poor we have been recently as well. I think last night was a reality check as to the current level of each squad.

Chelsea could have scored 6 last night. Not sure why some are saying they didn’t create much. Yes they did, if it wasn’t for their poor finishing it would have been a battering. It’s not like we restricted them at all.

The only reason we are still in this tie is because Chelsea failed to kill us off.

Last night should be a wake up call to anybody who thinks the players we have in the squad are good enough. They are aren’t.

The only genuine first 11 players that could be part of a proper PL / CL quality side would be

Lloris, Romero, Dier (this season form only) Son, Kane,

The rest like Reguilon, Moura, Sanchez, Davies, Emerson, Skipp, PEH, etc are no more than back up squad filler.

We need to sign 6 new players and they all need to be at the level of CL quality. Players that come into and look the real deal. I believe players like Kessie, De Vrij, Kounde and Vkalhovic are the calibre we need.

That is the size of the rebuild required. Last night was just further evidence of how the club have tried to do things in the cheap with recruitment, or when we have spent money, it’s been utterly wasted.

There is no cheap route to success. It’s money and money spent well. We haven’t been doing that so here we are. The club is far too weak mentally and ability wise for Conte to have us competing with the likes of Chelsea.
