By my reckoning, if all 4 sign (dead wood at Spurs) we'll make a healthy profit! £23mil for those 4???? Daylight robbery. How funny.

Exactly, I think Steed is being sold to free up a squad placing for Bentley. No point having too many midfielders who won't get game time.

but I would stil say that too much, I think the news about £18-20m more realistic : Kaboul £6m, Chimbonda £5m, Malbranque £4.5m, Tainio £3.5m .

How do you come to that conclusion? How many 90 min games did Tainio play for us last year? How many games has he won/lost us since he has been at the club? Yeah, again, like Steed he’s a hardworking professional but he isn’t the sort of calibre of player we should lose sleep over if we sell them for good money (at least what we paid for them).

Keane + Berbs = 50mil
Chimbs + Tainio + Steed + Kaboul = 23mil
Already in the war chest = 25mil

Just shy of a 100mil and saving over 8mil a year in wages on selling those 6? It would be CRIMINAL not to offload.

Think about those figures for a minute. It’s insane.

I believe its a good move for us and Sunderland, provided we use the money to fill our squad with quality.

Chimbonda - £5mill (Wigan wanted 6, we wnated to pay 4, and near the death a cmpromise was reach, may even have been £5.5mill)

Kaboul - £8mill (11mill Euro at the time was £8mill)

Tainio - FREE

Malbranque - £2.5mill (From the mouth of Coleman is was £2.5mill, due to it being the last year of Steed's contract and him being injured. We also swayed it with ROutledge on loan)

£15.5mill spend, and £23 mill recouped, not bad business at all!But very dissapointed to see Steed go, also I think Kaboul in a few years under a good coach will improve alot

Is that 63 INCLUDING 16 or 63 starts? So on average, if it's 63 starts he's playing like every other game at a guesstimate. Not really good enough I'm afraid.

The goals thing doesn't bother me as he's a Makalele type player (only he wishes).

If Sunderland pull this off it would be an amazing coup for them. Four good quality players with Prem experience, two of whom have a fantastic work ethic and attitude. Three of that four also provide a decent goal threat relative to the positions they play in. With Gordon, Jones and Richardson they have the makings of a pretty decent side quite capable of a top ten finish. Hopefully they can get Jones back to full fitness and really secure their status as a Premiership side.
