Woods has scored over 10 goals a season for the past three seasons, 14 last year. He has shown remarkable consistency, and as more of a target man type, I expect, plays n a way Jose likes.

I’m not against Woods he’s good player and I’d be happy with him. One of the better players I listed for sure. I just scrolled through fantasy football and picked any average striker. By your response I think you agree, a guy that can do the job is what we want, doesn’t have to be someone special. But the level of arguing before had me bemused I’m happy now that Chris Woods gets the indifferent responses I’m seeing now haha

He's a decent player but I hope we don't sign him as seeing "Woods" in every other post about him will do my head in.

Ideal for an alternative plan. If We are needing to chase a game and give CH’s massive headaches, Harry and him in tandem with Son also running at defences would cause havoc. Probably more so than say Wilson.

My god am I the only one who finds this thread disappointing? If you had said to any of us 15 months ago at the Champs League final we would be buying Woods there would have been uproar on hear or just plain laughter. He isn't a Spurs signing. And the complications of Covid has nothing to do with it. This is a worse option than Llorente:oops:

This is the reality of where we are now. We've dropped out of CL and barely scraped into the EL. We have a manager who values older players over potential and we have bugger all cash due to Covid. All the ITK said this is how it would be and yes, it is disappointing compared to chasing Dybala, but we didn't get Dybala and we have got a few reinforcements in to prepare for a long, hard season. Reality check done.

Covid and missing out on champions League football has probably cost us a couple of hundred million. It's no wonder we're buying cheaper players now.

Considering the fact he has 3 good PL seasons vs 1 for Llorente and hes homegrown, not really
I haven’t heard any of the top eight chasing Woods! Llorente never got the game time to show how he could have performed vs Woods so it is difficult to compare other than his European experience. I am so underwhelmed with the link. I would prefer to go for a younger forward like an Ollie Watson.

Not having the Covid thing. Others are coping. I have no issue with the purchase to date. Although I find the Hart move strange if Gazzaniga stays. But Woods just doesn’t cut it for me and I believe that there are better alternatives.

For me if we compare Josh King with Chris Wood most fans would prefer King as he is a better "footballer". For me King is not an out and out CF and that is what we need for the squad. I like what Wood would bring to us as he has attributes that none of our players have. In many ways we have what King does already in Son. I do like King but would prefer Wood at this time.

I understand all the reasons but we have brought carefully to date. I think the bigger issue the players we need to release before we can even consider another player. But if we are going to spend our frugal funds let’s spend it on a better player which are out there. As I have said elsewhere.

King is very much capable of playing as an out and out striker. Does that for Norway very successfully.

He has basically carried our national team for years now. Obviously he is getting more support lately, but that is a recent development.

Which non champions league teams have been splashing the cash? Possibly the promoted teams, but joining the premier league has been a windfall for them.

I watch Burnley quite often and believe that Wood is the best option of those suggested, at a potentially reasonable and realistic transfer fee.
Hard working, committed and aggressive.
Fits Mourinho mould well as an excellent target man - particularly strong in the air - who has a decent scoring record in the Premier League despite playing for a team with limited creativity.
Provides distinct and alternative attributes to our other attacking players.
Wood could stand in effectively for Kane in certain matches and provide a really good platform for Son, Maura, Alli and Bergwijn to play off - something we desperately lacked last season.
He could also complement Kane successfully as a figurehead for the attack - relieving pressure on Kane and creating space and opportunities for him.
An excellent option in my opinion!

Ollie Watson is a good shout Brentford brought another striker today as well, replacement?

How other clubs are coping Covid then?

Ignoring the FFP cheats United, Liverpool, United, Arsenal, have either brought or are likely to spend more than us. So far CP, Southampton, Leeds, Sheffield Utd. Even the spammers have matched our net spend so far.
And? How does it change anything? In the top eight he would have place in 6 clubs

So Woods would make the Chelsea, United, Leicester, Arsenal, Wolves and god forbid Spurs squad?

I think Josh King is a fine footballer and have down for a while. But I honestly think Wood’s effectiveness makes him seem more attractive which i wasn’t expecting myself to be saying. Also think Dele would play wonderfully off Wood.
