The bit I find most laughable about all of this is the fact that the plonker is a so called arsenal fan! If he is hoping a move to Tottenham will get him closer to arsenal he clearly knows nothing about English football.

Not really. I don't rate the bloke, his hold up play and passing is a long way away from what I'd ideally be looking for in a number nine. However, it looks as though we are going to sign him so I see little point in slagging him off and concentrating on his obvious flaws. All that can wait until the season begins, at which point I'll be screaming I FUCKING TOLD YOU SO every time the ball bounces off his fat arse and bobbles slowly out for a goal kick.

Yeah I'm in this camp too. I really hope I'm wrong, but I just can't see him repeating the success of last season. Mind you, I wanted us to sign Kenwyne Jones when we were first linked with him, so what the fuck do I know about anything?

he is/was probably an Arsenal fan like Bergkamp was a Spurs fan

Most of the players he admired as a kid (i.e. Henry and Vieira) played for Arsenal just as Bergkamp looked up to Hoddle in his day - its not like having a deep rooted love for a club like we as fans have, especially now days where its so very much a career rather than a passion

True, I couldn't resist. What I meant to say is that I see no point in continuing the discussion as to whether the guy is what we need or not. We're clearly trying to sign him and by all accounts he's desperate to join. With that in mind I'm just going to sit back and wait for him to prove me wrong. Just like Messi did, the dwarfy little ****.

i think hes quality. and hes only 22. i dont think people realise how good.
his stats are up there. hes got it all.
i know a lot of villa fans are slagging him off now for handing in request but actually hes a good lad.
i thought his agent was/is a decent bloke too.

Exactly.

I don't get this, there has been no bid. That comes after negotiations have been fruitful. Its not like you ring up and shout 19 million down the phone. An official bid is not something you throw together quickly. It surely comes near the end of the process.

We are obviously negotiating and if all goes well we'll submit a bid which will be carefully considered and likely be accepted. Not one that is rejected out of hand when there is a time element to consider in all this.
