Strong links, plenty of positive info from everywhere followed by a painfully laughable conclusion. This feeling is far too familiar for my liking.

Yea, fuck you Stella, sprouts and Poirot too!
hey man, you don't want to chase Vertonghen and Dembele out the club do you?

With so much ITK claiming things are done or almost done and now itk saying Benteke was never even a target it makes you wonder how much even the most trusted of ITKers really know, even more worrying is the thought that they do indeed have an inside tract to the club and their lack of accuracy reflects a lack of direction from the top at our club

I think for my sanity I am gonna go down the line of treating ITK with the same level of doubt I would a story in the back pages because even the "all but dones", "we're doing everything we can" and "BAldini's work is amazing" never seem to come to fruition

As have said before was never convinced about Benteke anyway, but it is concerning that options are running out.

All know we need an additional forward but we all have to learn not to believe that everything that is said in itk happens.

Just glad that Ade + JD are still around - whilst some have said we should have sold whilst we could. I still remember past windows and again as said before we do not sell before we have signed

Need minimum 3 forwards anyway.

Here's to the next few days of pulling hair out until end of TW - as always with Spurs don't expect it to run smoothly, is why we love the club.

Funny enough I did say earlier today in the Bernard thread that Spurs wont sign benteke or Bernard despite the ITK because we won't spend 20 million on a single player. We are willing to spend 15 or so and the add ons. We'll laways just withdraw from negotiations if the club wont budge and shop around for something cheaper and more Dempsey like.

So this is not a surprise

Who knows what went on here, I just hope we can sign a quality striker, problem is they dont come cheap either in transfer fee or wages, so we are going to have to bite the bullet and pay up or end up with another deadline day Dempsey type, decent but not we need or want.

I agree to an extent. It depends on the player. If the opportunity arose to pick up a proven top class player (at a 'sell on value' age) for relatively big money I think we'd pay it now. Benteke doesn't, at the moment, fall into that bracket.

Benteke signing a new contract is different why are some people complaining about Levy and ITK? It's not like we missed out to another club again. Villa have been trying to reduce their wage bill for a while now, it's unlikely they offered him a better contract than we could have so doubt it was because he turned us down, and that's if we were seriously in for him in the first place!

He might have turned out to be an awesome player, but he might not have, so at the money being quoted it would have been a HUGE risk for us. This is really not worth crying about.

We have a proper DOF again now, just because some can't think of many strikers who will improve us doesn't mean Baldini and AVB can't.

Could be 1/2 season wonder or victim of a team that went to crap last season. Incredible run of bad injury luck for them.
I agree, Cisse is still a decent player

He got over rated when he burst on the scene at NEwcastle but he's under rated now for having a poor season just gone

He was in a weak team, he started slow because Ba took centre stage and it seemed the two could not thrive in the same team (BA couldn't hit a barn door when Cisse was in form)

He showed enough movement and finishing ability in a poor team still last year, he was playing well in the Europa and he was good in Germany before coming to UK

I'd not be that disappointed if we signed him, I don't think he'd be a star signing but he'd be a useful additon as long as we also signed a wide forward.

If we had a lot of creativity in the team Cisse would score bagfuls, as would Ade if he captured his form again.

Problem is Newcastle won't sell him for anything like it would be worth us spending on him - but he's as good a signing as remy pound for pound

"I hope to play in my best position as much as I can. My best position is striker," he told The Chronicle. "I had never played right wing in my life. It was my first time at Newcastle. It was okay because I was doing it for the team."

Play him as a striker and he will score goals (but how did he miss that chance against Arsenal!). Great player IMO and shouldn't be expensive because he wasn't good last season.

The someone who suggested that about the transfer request, also forgot a certain Mr Rooney a few years back & how he handed in a transfer request, then a shiny £250k p/w contract appeared & his transfer request was withdrawn. I'm not saying Benteke would be trying the same thing now, but I do wonder what he'd say if he was suddenly offered triple his current £20k p/w..

looks like you were bang on

only time will tell -- missed opportunity or dodged the bullet of a one season wonder.... I am not convinced with Soldado either, not sure the supreme striker is out there at the moment. bernard for 20+ mil? havin' a laugh there,.. or salvio from benfica wanting a reported 30+ mil whatevs,.... looks like it's gonna be neilton for 7+ mil and some striker from somewhere (that's my ITK) :playful:

It should be pointed out that his name is an anagram of rusti anal *** depending on which alphabet is used to translate his name.
