Fair enough, I don't think that really directly answers why he has more scope to improve though. I'd suggest that the only reason he has more scope to improve is because he's the vastly inferior player, different, but inferior none the less. I don't think Mason is good enough, he wouldn't be good enough for any other team challenging in the top 6 but given our options in CM he has to be good enough. Bentaleb made a horrendous start to the season and Dembele isn't fancied (rightly so) in the middle two. He's still behind Alli and Dier though. Back to Eriksen, he's 23, he plays every game he's fit for, so why doesn't the same "he's worn out" argument apply to Eriksen?

I think Mason will come back in alongside Dier when he's fit and Alli will be pushed forward into the 3.

Yeah I definitely think Eriksen was worn out last season and should've been benched/rested several times towards the end. Over the course of the last 2 seasons though I think i've seen enough from him to know how good his is and how good he can be.

Ye, will never be a top player. Hasn't got the the mentality for it and his exceptional free kicks mask the fact that he doesn't do anywhere near enough in games and open play.

Absolutely hilarious statement. He almost solely carried us for two months last season - and not only because of freekicks and late goals.

I'm not sure how people can expect a player not to be inconsistent when he plays - and has played - on a team with players around him that are - and were - incredible inconsistent (and some even bang on average or worse than that).

It makes me laugh how people are completely sure that Eriksen at 23 "will never be a top player" and talk about inconsistency, yet Ryan Mason at 24 "shows promise". It's so ridiculous.

that's a very linear view, players develop at different rates. if eriksen was english and had come through our or another pl club's academy then he wouldn't have been playing regular first team football at 17 like he was at ajax, he'd have probably had a similar career trajectory as alex pritchard, you can't compare his career to date with mason's as they were under very different circumstances. eriksen may be a year younger than mason but his body of work is far bigger, perhaps eriksen hasn't shown the continuous year on year progression to suggest that he will become a top player whereas with mason he's basically only had one year of top level injury-free football and in that time he was shown in improvement - hence why he "shows promise".

If Eriksen doesn't end up at one of the Top 5 clubs in the world I'll be very surprised.

You're not allowed to talk about the golden boy like that.

It's a bit silly if you're gonna keep this up, like you do know you're talking about one of our players and you do know he's one of our best players as well? You have a bee in you bonnet about our fans giving backing to our players which says something about you.

No, you are right. Kaboul, Paulinho, Soldado, Capoue, Stambouli, Fazio,Vorm are all consistent incredible players. Regular starters as well. I'm not even picking players here from the reserves.

Came 5th because we also have fantastic players, Eriksen being one of them, That's all I'm saying.
