You know he's gone to Man U and not the MLS or Qatar?

I think they'll do ok this year. It hardly took Conte long to turn us around from probably the most toxic and disheartening time I've known as a fan.
True but they’re not the Man United of old either, and may very well never be again.

Why do you think Ronaldo is trying his hardest to escape and De Jong can’t run away fast enough?

IMHO if rumours are to be believed, they’re also far more broken behind the scenes than we were.

If we had genuine interest in his return and then baulked at the agent demands, then IMHO it’s about the pay day, not the football ambition.

He almost died, he can ask for as much as wants to ensure his family's future. If Ten Hag wasn't manager then yeah it could solely be money orientated. But this is a guy who helped him following the incident.

Think it's pretty cynical to assume it's solely money based, especially when by all accounts Conte didn't want the move.

I’m a bit sad would have liked to see him back, but a part of me was/is glad about moving on from signing back former players that are now older. There is something to be said for looking forward not back. Been impressed by how we have done things this summer.

I wish him well after everything that happened to him. Not sure about his quote about being ambitious though. United have become the dictionary definition of unambitious in recent years.

And considering nobody knows how long his career could last, why not try to make as much as possible? I honestly don't blame him for it. I'd do the same. He'll set his family up for life and can hang up his boots after the next World Cup and this season if he wishes.

Enjoyed having Eriksen at Spurs and absolutely loved his game for the most part. He never stopped running and left us many good memories. So pleased he is alive and have zero problems with him signing for ManU, he was a big part of our past and will be fondly remembered.
Now, however we have moved on and are going through one of the best transfer windows ever, Conte and the new look Spurs are going to be a real revelation this season.
Christian, all the best, enjoy the twilight of your career.

I think that not signing him actually shows ambition, if we get another AM.

The club had the option to sign a very good player on a free here, but instead is looking to pay out for a player who suits our squad more now/in the future. As much as I wanted Eriksen and felt he’d be perfect, this decision is exactly the opposite of what ENIC have been accused of in the past.
Bang on… IF as you say we do sign a top quality AM.

From 2013 to 2020, Eriksen played for Tottenham, and the Danish midfielder says that during that period he has been in dialogue with the managers who were at United during that period. That means Louis van Gaal, José Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

- When I was at Spurs, I spoke to all the managers who have been here to see what the situation was. But for me it was not time to change. I was at Spurs for a long time and wanted to try something abroad, so I ended up at Inter and had a good time, says Eriksen.

- It was very positive from the first phone calls, and the club (Manchester United, ed.) seemed to want me, so it has been talked about for a long time.

There was never an offer from Tottenham

Eriksen had his contract with Inter cancelled because the rules of the Italian league make it impossible to play with the type of pacemaker he has had implanted.

He joined London club Brentford in January this year on a short-term contract. Here, the Dane impressed to such an extent that United picked up Eriksen this summer on a free transfer.

In the interview with The Times, Eriksen adds that a return to Tottenham never became relevant, even though there was a lot of speculation about it.

- It was just talk. They never came up with anything, says Eriksen, who adds that United approached him early in the process.

Probably goes on all the time, but that sounds 100% like tapping up to me. I doubt he was given permission by Levy to talk to Utd. at any point.

It’s interesting that itk’s and big journalists said we’d offered him a deal and thought we were favourites. Now he’s saying we didn’t really attempt to sign him.

It seems to line up with what I understood - we made an offer, that was below what Eriksen wanted, and did not follow-up with any further negotiations. So, from Eriksen's perspective it would seem like we never really attempted to sign him, and from the ITKs/Journos - we made him an offer.

Yeah I think ITK also said that his agent kind of screwed us around. Told us we were favourites, that he was keen to come back and our terms were good, then went AWOL, before returning weeks later with a completely different story.

Reading between the lines sounds like another club (i.e. United) made a much bigger offer that turned his head and we weren't willing to offer mega wages for a player that Conte didn't deem essential.

Is the suggestion he isn’t vaccinated waffle? Read it a few times and may explain our decision as we won’t sign an unvaccinated player
