Demonstrated perfectly yesterday what we were lacking!

Eriksen - Bentacur - Skipp would be a great midfield three IMHO.

His set-pieces were really good ( or maybe our defending was awful haha). On three occasions, he was able to setup Toney and Mbuemo for volleys, straight from corners. Compare that with Son, who really just either hits it and hopes, or plays a short pass, receives the ball back and then tries to beat a man before another attempted cross.

Son's corners are actually pretty decent the problem to an extent we don't have anybody that attack corners with real intent.

We never seem to practice them. Or come up with routine or have guys attack different areas, across goal at once. Everybody just seems to blindly make a near post run. Making predictable and easy to mark.

If the rumours are true that he wants to stay in London, then you’ve got to think it’s either stay at Brentford or a return to Spurs that seem most likely.

Conte was cagey yesterday when asked about him, but was far less subtle about bringing him in in the summer, when he first signed for Brentford.

Which is strange as The Extra Inch podcast mentioned just after Conte joined that this teams are normally at the top end of the league for goals scored from set pieces, and corners in particular. Apparently his teams are normally well drilled in this area.

Given the sheer number of players we need to replace the amount of shite we have, I’d be up for him coming back as he is quality and wouldn’t be hugely expensive. Especially given the number of holes we have to fill and Levy in all likelihood not wanting to spend whats required.

Even though Brentford got dicked by United the other day his passing was sublime. He's starting to look a bit like Pirlo in his current role - strolling around the middle of the park spraying pinpoint balls to feet.

In terms of sheer talent and instant impact I struggle to think of anyone close to Eriksen that we could get, even if we paid big money.

I'd have Eriksen over any of:
Ndombele
Lo Celso
Winks

So even if you think of Sarr (DM) coming in, and Eriksen adding to that (AM?), you'd have:

Skipp, Sarr (DM)
Hojbjerg, Bentacur (MC)
Eriksen (AM)

(assuming we don't count Ndombele, Winks or GLC).

That would then leave room for White (or similar) to be rotated in for experience, and either getting another AM type option to rotate around Eriksen (and potentially PEH being surplus, if it were Conte's plan)

Don't forget Gil will be coming back as well.

Curious for your thoughts...

If we bring Eriksen in what role do you see him playing? I assume Conte will stick with 3 CB + 2 WB so that leaves 2 in midfield and 3 up front or 3 in midfield and 2 up front. So if we keep 3 up front then would you have CE rotating w Bentancur ? Surely CE + Bentancur as a midfield of 2 would get runover.

If Conte goes for a midfield of 3 w CE as an AM then we only have 2 up front so do you drop Son or Deki?

Either way would be great to have that option of 2 different formations.

I think that Eriksen would mostly play in the same role as he did at Inter, maybe on the right wing where Kulusevski plays now for us. Conte will rotate between formations depending on who we get. Kane can play as AMC so we could have Son and another striker up front, or Eriksen at nr. 10 with Kane and Son as strikers, Kulusevski could rotate with all 3 of them or even play as RWB at times. There were times when Conte used Vidal instead of Eriksen in midfield 3, so we could drop him for Skipp at times (if we get quality WBs we shouldn't worry about creating chances).

The way that Kane drops deeper to spray balls wide and forward can be replicated by Eriksen, who can easily play the 10 role with pacy technical wide forwards like Son and Deki around/ahead of him.

Gives us options to rotate. He also loves a shot from the edge of the box which can be the game changer against teams who camp defensively in their own penalty area.

Or he could play with a #10 behind 2 strikers who can drop back and make a 3 man midfield. Whatever happens we need to have options which currently we don't have at all.

He has only had to do it since eriksen left in fairness.

Exactly. Had we signed Eriksen in January I suspect we would have seen 3-4-1-2 with Eriksen at 10 and Kulu at RWB quite often.

Eriksen was also proven to be a gamechanger off the bench towards the end under Jose, and that was when he had mentally checked out.

It would be a brilliant addition to squad. The epitome of a no brainer.

Yup agreed, we just have zero tactical flex currently, makes us so predictable.

Having some genuine creativity there would be a game changer.

Im surprised we have tried Deki there though, wasn't his best out put season at palma at 10?

Perhaps he feels he needs to play with three at the top to protect the wingbacks(considering who they are) a bit more than a narrower 3-4-1-2 right now.

Makes sense.

Would like him to play there against Liverpool to help out in midfield.
