Remember the Amazon doc when he was on the way out? Can’t see him wanting to come back here. For the way levy is, not footballing reasons. Been a while since I’ve seen it but wasn’t he banging on about being a commodity ?

Levy winked, rattled his gold chains and told him about his A Level results.

I know this is a few weeks ago, but it was the first 'new' post to me in the thread, and no one seems to have replied.

The interactions you're talking about didn't happen. DL basically said that they didn't want him to go, would match any financial offer he'd get, and would respect his decision if he still wanted to leave, so long as he was valued according to the situation. Eriksen seemed to be hugely on the defensive and was being rather selfish at the time (which is his right, of course, but he didn't seem to be interested in the impact of leaving). I have no idea why you've attempted to suggest that to "the way levy is", but he made it very clear that Eriksen was wanted and respected at the club.

That clip is here:

What you're conflating is the chat with Ndombele, which was completely valid. It was a motivational pep talk to tell Tanguy the club was being patient and believed in him, whilst giving him the kick up the arse he needed. I don't believe at any point any player has been "banging on about being a commodity".

I would expect DL is more likely to be a reason for a player to return, if they knew they were going to be respected and rewarded for their output.

No disrespect intended to Brentford but I don’t think he will stay there. He has one career and despite the awful thing that happened to him, he always speaks like he wants to play at the highest level he can and that’s not Brentford. They have been a way for him to get back playing.

I think this will happen as relatively cheap to do and he has now proven his fitness.. worked with Conte before and will not be required to play every game/minute.. would be rotated.

I’m not usually a fan of players returning but think this could be an exception. If he does it’ll only be after a long chat with Conte to discuss how he’d fit in.

All signs point to a return that its a no brainer

- Eriksen wanna stay in London
- Eriksen gets to play UCL
- Eriksen knows our club
- Eriksen are mates with Son, Kane, Hugo, Dier
- Eriksen can form Danish midfield partnership with Hojbjerg
- Eriksen played under Conte in a 3-5-2
- Eriksen's health status means he doesn't have to play every match
- Eriksen's on a free
- Eriksen can thread a thru ball which only Kane, Bentancur and Deki can

Before anyone says he burnt his bridges on his way out with Levy, do remember, this is a business, there are no forever friends or enemies in a successful business.

Case study: Graham, ****bell, Jose, Conte.

As long as both player and club are aligned on agenda, it's a marriage of convenience

48% of Brentford's Premier League points came in their final 11 games, from when Eriksen made his first start... Stunning comeback... legendary stuff from Eriksen. Respect !

If he doesn't want to stay at Brentford and wants to stay in London, its a no brainer for all involved. He has worked under Conte, I don't think it went well for him to start with? but it seemed like he bought into the Conte way eventually and became an important cog in the wheel.

Would love him back. He'd be a great option with Bentancur in the two, In certain games where we have a lot of the ball against a low block.

We would lose that much from a defensive stand point if he just replaced Hojbjerg in every game? Hojbjerg seems to have more licence to go forward in the two vs Bentancur anyway.

This makes way too much sense. He'd get plenty of starts and have plenty of opportunities to make an impact off the bench. Exactly the type of player we are missing in the squad with the departures/failures of Ndombele and Lo Celso.

You'd imagine we'd make him an offer. Seems so obvious given he's fully COYS, on a free and knows Conte.

Think we just have to wait and see if he wants this type of challenge or not given what he's been through. The ball is in his court.

Lets see if he can get it back over the net without hitting the first man ;P

The whole thing is almost too sensible. There really is no part of this decision that doesn't make sense on paper.

Eriksen left because he knew we weren't going to win anything. Call it disillusioned. He'd given us the best years of his career and had nothing to show for it. Is there any evidence that Levy has changed? Hopefully we will get some this summer, but I interpreted 'the way Levy is' as 1. not investing to compete (he doesn't, don't care what anyone says. He invests when he has to, to 'maintain') and 2. making it difficult for players to leave. And I make @DickTopSpursFan right.

Making it clear that Eriksen is wanted and respected means nothing, the man wanted to win something - he's too good not to - he (like the rest of us) could see that it wasn't going to happen and so he left. Correct decision as history shows.

That brings us to this summer. Things have changed. Top manager, solid foundation to the squad on which to build, CL football again, and fans in the stadium again. I'm not going to hold my breath but if DL doesn't go for it this summer, he never will. Everybody can see what needs to happen. Fingers crossed.
