Plus the cryptic which was pretty certainly regarding him coming back.
Yep - I have a feeling there will be a late twist in the media tale here, but let’s see. Maybe it’s blind optimism seeing as I lumped on it with skybet ?

I’m quite sure that we haven’t talked to his camp recently because there’s nothing to talk about. If/when United and/or Brentford agree a deal, I’d be amazed if Eriksen’s team didn’t come to us with a chance to match it.

Here's hoping mate.

If what WLB said about his team being surprised about the lack of contact is right, then I think you might be right there. Maybe a case of they've given us first refusal and we're just on standby?

He was interested in a move to United in summer 2019. If it's between Brentford and United my money is on him going there.

A bit odd we're not interested imo. We must be interested in a similar profile of player or going all out on wingers.

Pretty sure ITK here said he turned down United, as he didn’t want to play for another club in the PL.

Edit: To clarify, back in 2019.

I guess, Eriksen wants guaranteed start - which Conte /we couldnt give....So, we havent pushed for him and he is looking at Brentford or United move. My gut feel is he will stay at Brentford.

If we didnt go for Eriksen, its completely down to Conte and how he wants to shape up the squad. No place for sentiment - whether we will regret is to be seen. But I am fully onboard Conte train even if it means no place for Christian

I think this was always a romantic optimistic signing. I wouldn’t be against him coming back, but it if he ended up elsewhere I wouldn’t feel we’ve missed a massive opportunity.
I just get the feeling the upshift in attention toward Raphinha could be seen as an alternative creative option to Eriksen. More expensive, yes, but it’s not down to me to balance the books. So long as Conte ends the summer happy with his squad shuffling, I’m ok with whoever we bring in.

They play in different positions though, Eriksen has been playing as almost a deep lying playmaker and obviously is best at CAM, whereas Raphinha is a wide forward no?

I wonder if we were interested during the spring, but with CL qualification, 150m injection, and players like Raphina now beeing possible, we changed our mind.

Would've loved for Eriksen to come back, but I'm not overly fussed if he doesn't.

While it would've been good to have that option to switch to 3-5-2 and bring a genuine visionary passer into the side, it would've just felt weird having him as a squad player. And I wonder if that was part of his thinking too.

Will wish him well wherever he ends up, although I bloody hope it's not United.

Never thought we could offer him 1st team football so was always a bit surprised that it sounded like we were amongst front runners from itk...media now says otherwise, i guess we'll see!

Can anyone tell me- have the ITK agreed with the media or are they still hearing otherwise?

Think it's a case of, it's really murky. When the reports came out that we'd backed away, the ITK was saying we were still very confident, and now nobody knows. Most recent bit of itk from WLB said they (Eriksens camp) didn't understand why we'd supposedly backed away. Most recent cryptic seemed to hint very explicitly that he's coming here. Not sure I've seen anyone say that we're no longer interested or that we're out completely.

I know some people don't like these guys, but thought it was interesting they were saying their source was still confident.

Yeah I agree and mentioned it a few months back that if he doesn’t come to us it will be Man U. Whatever happens I think I’ll have him in my fantasy team. If he goes to Man U I definitely will.
