These match videos are always more telling than season highlights, and, based on this, I can see why we're in for him. He's certainly raw and gives the ball away a bit, but has absolutely bags of potential (and absolutely ridiculous pace, of course). If we sign him, I think he'll annoy the piss out of us at times but will impress in equal measure.

Cheers for that. Looks tasty down the left and can do a job down the right.

Looks like an absolute live wire, hyperactive and unpredictable. We haven't got anyone like that

I posted a few pages back along with this one, which shows the other side of his game. Very, very raw player but potential is there.

Might be in the minority here, but I was excited after watching his Youtube compilation. Not so much after watching those highlights. He was awful.

I think he is young and shows potential and hopefully training with the likes of Lamela Townsend and Chadli they can all push themselves to a higher level..

The Bordeaux video showed a bad performance, but against Saint-Etienne, in the longer video, I think he played very well.

When a young player is capable of extremely high level of play, albeit inconsistently, you need to take a look. He simply needs to be coached to play at that level throughout the match. N'jie is very much a flash in the pan type of player. He will seem out of his element for the majority of the game, but he will then seem to have a go at it and do something amazing. He became confident at the end of the season and went on a great point run. If Pochettino has seen moments from him that make him believe he can be developed into a top player, than £10.6m is a good deal for us. He has proven that he can be extremely useful at the end of matches as a super sub, and I suspect it will be similar for his first season here.

your point about him doing well when coming off the bench is interesting. We didn't have a single substitute score for us last season in the prem

He is full of pace, and he can absolutely destroy a tired defender. Unlike many of the options we have (Townsend, Lennon), he is also creative and is a goal threat himself.

Do Lyon need a replacement for this kid?

If they do it's going to drag on unless they've identified or signed someone already.

I highly doubt it. They have loads of young strikers, including Benzia- and Fekir, Lacazette (who isn't leaving this seasons) and Beauvue, who they just signed. They want to use the money on a midfielder and defender apparently.

I'm with you on this. Rather underwhelmed after watching that. I won't pretend that I'm able to make any kind of serious judgement about his potential based on a few vids. My main concern was the sheer amount of times he gave the ball away. Not when he tried a flick or a run. That happens and not even Messi is successful with every dribble or attempted flick. It was his passing. Often completely misplaced. Maybe that's just a lack of concentration or tiredness that will improve with time. If it's poor technique? He could end up as an Aaron Lennon Mk 2. Not the worst thing in the world, but I would hope to aim higher when targeting young potential.

@Bus-Conductor - As an avid Ligue 1 fan, what is your opinion on the potential signing of Clinton Mua N'Jie?

I've probably only seen him play a handful of times and I don't know what price is being bandied about but he's a lively fucker that's for sure. He's got pace, decent technique, can use both feet, but what I like best about the bits I've seen is, he also gets his head up and creates things for others amidst the mayhem of the box. Played primarily as a wide forward on either side I think. Still very raw and with that some eratic-ness - nature of the position too.

My take on the situation is that Lyon know that either Lacazette or N'Jie would leave this summer and they've been trying to keep Lacazette - which they'we now done (he's just signed a new contract in the last few days) after weeks of speculation linking him to other clubs so now N'Jie could be available
