YouTube caveats etc, but I revisited this video in my nightmares last night as though I had watched a horror film just before bed!

He loses the ball 11 times, misses a 1v1, is offside...I really hope the scouting team see something I don't!
I'm pretty confident in that.

that said we've already got a winger who looks good but makes awful decisions. actually we have about four of them

Actually doesn't look like there's much wrong with his decision making, he seems to get his head up and play the right ball, it's just his execution that isn't there.

I can only judge him once he's been signed and played for us, but it doesn't seem like a particularly encouraging one to me.

Not convince by him, from the little I've seen of him. Would work well with the likes of Mason releasing the ball quickly - but fear he isn't the type to unlock a defence.

Just watched this video and it's worrying. Terrible touch, delivery, passing. It's not like he even looks raw, just no good.

Seeing as Mitchell was going to sign Stambouli for Southampton to replaces MS I'm not sure that's true, but anyway.

Fair enough if you think it's petty, but even a cursory look at Lyon forums tells you the common observations are that he's dangerous because of his pace but is let down by poor touch. They watch him every week so it would be a surprise to me if they were all wrong.

I think we should be cautious if he signs however there is a point to be made about their club's situation. Lyon regularly have to sell top players. In the past they have sold Benzema and Lloris amongst others. They currently have a worldie in Lacazette, a highly promising player in Fekir, in addition to that Benzia and the incoming Valbuena. They then also have a top drawer CM in Gonalons and a good one in Grenier. Umtiti is a good CB prospect.

If you are a Lyon fan you are shitting yourself about selling those players before someone like N'Jie, who played sporadically. We wouldn't have preferred to sell Bale because Townsend was a highly rated prospect at the time. I didn't want to shift him back then but if it would have meant keeping Bale (or Modric) I'd had drove him to his next club without hesitation. Yes Townsend didn't turn out as hoped but that doesn't mean N'Jie wouldn't.

As of this morning I have lost all enthusiasm for this signing. Its a funny old game. A couple of meh's from Lyon fans about losing him and I've decided he's a waste of money. I think I'd rather keep Lennon despite his penchant for bridge burning. Can't we buy Lennon another straight brimmed cap and a gold grill for his teeth then magically go back to the give-pace-a-chance era?

You would assume they would, if we do more in depth scouting on here than Spurs there is an issue.

The club is clearly unconvinced by Townsend, why would they rush to buy a similar player? They must see something in him and I guess that's likely his pace and knack of getting goals/assists.

Also single game highlights can be harsh. I'd shudder to think what Bentaleb's Utd highlights were like, doesn't make him a terrible player.

We signed Stambouli who couldn't run. Fazio who can't turn and can't pass 5 yards. Holtby who doesn't have a position and can't last past 60 minutes.

People talk as if it's so completely unlikely Tottenham would make a mistake in the transfer market. We do it all the time. Look at all the deadwood we're desperately offloading.

Is it not fair to question a signing?

I think the likes of Fazio and Stambouli were brought in because we couldn't secure out initial targets Mateo Musacchio and Morgan Schneriderlin and I believe we have a new scouting team in place now anyway.

Any then we signed Mitchell and team to fix our scouting and player attraction.

Reserved judgement on this signing but I will still be disappointed if we don't acquire a player or indeed players who can slot in right from the get-go and be confident that they can improve our first team.

A wide forward and a CM next to Bentaleb are still holes that haven't adequately been filled.

Every signing is a gamble, there are absolutely no guarantees in football. We should know that more than most.

I hope they scouted the mental side of the kid because if that is all there then he can be a hell of a player with the attributes he possesses.

From what I've read they are open to losing him as it will bring in a lot of money which means they can strengthen. Most would like him to stay and continue with Fekir and Lacazette.

If all that is wrong with him is his first touch then €15M is a steal. Our biggest problem last year was getting the wingers who'd get in good positions against teams that sat back.

His first touch can be easily improved.
