Some of the comments in this thread are just bizarre. We approached it as a stroll in the park, and still won convincingly.

My hairdresser is a former professional footballer, and has very close links with Bristol City. I was chatting to him about the West Brom cup game a few weeks ago, and he was emphasising just how 'up for it' the Bristol City players were. Any time a football league team comes up against a Prem club it's going to be all that the players talk about, all that their friends are talking about, and usually all that the fans are thinking about. It's also essentially a trial of sorts, as it becomes an opportunity for every player to get noticed by the Prem teams.

These sort of games can always be difficult, and as the opposition tends to play a very different style of football compared to the Prem, it's not hard to see why we looked a bit disjointed.

In the end we dispatched them comfortably, and hardly broke sweat in the process. What's not to like? Would people be happier if our players ran themselves into the ground to win 8-0?

I didn't watch the game until 4 O clock and was perusing this thread as I was out
I truly thought from reading this we struggled and made a complete meal of it.

When I finally watch the game I see a team strolling to an easy win away from home and barely breaking sweat we almost played it like a practice match.

I was well pleased because.
1 we won
2 we won comfortably
3 no injuries
4 the lads won't be knackered
5 more match fitness for the players that are on the bench that got a game.
6 did I mention that we won ?

Some people just want far more than is necessary imo.

I thought Bentaleb was dogshit today. We look vulnerable whenever he plays.

I think we'll sell him and Lamela in the summer.

Totally agree, along with Kane, Alli and Verts.

All dog pooers................

(you need to up your medication my friend)

Agree one hundred percent.

Though many of you will hate to hear this i knew Brian Talbot quite well especially when he managed Rushden & Diamonds who took a few FA Cup League scalps to a replay or a win.

He often said that when lower league teams take on "bigger clubs" younger players are out to show the better team just what they can do, (to get noticed) and often (for that game) play as well as any individual who was playing for their professional opponent.

He often said that "on that day" a lower league player could have played in the opposing side without anyone noticing and often could have added more to the opposing teams side. But at the end of the day the lower league player could not sustain that form through a season, hence thats why they are in the lower leagues.

Though i despise the team Talbot played for, he was a lot more open, friendly and personable than you would imagine, but he still didn't have a good thing to say about Spurs!

Some things never change i guess, and games like the Colchester one (away) are no cakewalk. I look at it a s a potential banana skin avoided, another undefeated away game, and no fucking replay.
