Controversial opinion

One of my controversial opinions is that the constant berating and insulting of Charlie Kane has certainly not helped in keeping Harry at the club at all. Blood is thicker than water. I think it demonstrates how fickle and also nasty ‘we’ fans can be. What do you think their mum thinks about this or Harry himself when they read this sort of thing? Once upon a time I and some friends sat in the row behind Mum, Harry & Charlie (and partners) on an easyJet flight (yes!) from Faro. They seemed a tight knit group.
The idea that pro footballers and their families follow what is said on here is widespread...but untrue.

Not only that but it has created the worst type of plastic fans.

Including me I guess as I plan to watch the WC semi. And I’m in love with Mary Earps.

Do you know what...I'm not sure I care anymore.

Today's Kane ITK and the ridiculous Saudi shit that's going on at the moment, I think top tier football is eating itself and I don't think I longer give a shit.

I wish I hadn't renewed my 35 year old season ticket.

I think I'm done with football.
Couldn't Winner and Love this enough..... So sad how Professional football is capitulating......

Gave mine up after we closed the old stadium. I was able to transfer it to the guy who sat next to me as his son was wanting it. Had mine 20 years.
I still watch but the passion has gone now.
The money sloshing around is obscene and the supporter has to pay top dollar to attend.
I thought the bubble would burst along time ago but it still seems to be gathering pace.

I think that it's completely understandable that we need to clear players off of the wage bill before we keep on buying players, and feel like I'm taking crazy pills by not riding the hate train the whole time as the transfer window is always a mess that goes down to the last day for any clubs needing to do a lot of business, particularly outbound as players and clubs get increasingly desperate. When the window shuts is a problem. It should shut 2 weeks before the start of the season at the absolute latest.

It doesn't seem feasible or in any way financially prudent to have 10s of millions of pounds in potential wages sitting on the books to be able to keep adding more more without getting rid of enough of that obligation, especially in a market where it's difficult to shift players.

The finance side of me would agree, yet the playbook hasn’t worked for a very long time. Revenues are fundamentally driven by success on the pitch, and taking some risk now with extra signings isn’t going to break our whole business model. You’ve mentioned wages which is important. New signing transfer fees can be spread across a contract, sales can be booked there and then (I believe). If the wage bill is too bloated, then it gives more support the idea of letting players go at reasonable value to get it off the books. If we are taking an approach to maximise sale value I find that surprising. It feels then like Levy is keeping the books attractive with a PE sale in mind.

What is interesting though is there is a lot of commerical value in football which hasn’t been unlocked yet. The money Chelsea are throwing in tells us that, so our risk off approach when the game is at an interesting chasm is a bit of a puzzle to me.

My opinion is that we may well sign no one else and that would be a fatal blow to keeping the fans on side.

Article came out recently that showed that if FFP was implemented properly, all PL teams would have to slash their wage budget.

Apart from Spurs who would be able to increase their wage spending by 150m per year.

We are the third most profitable sporting franchise on the planet.

Women goalkeepers are not of the standard as the outfield players.

GK coaching has only relatively recently adapted to account for/solve the issue of the height disparity between women and men 'keepers. So whilst they're not as good as the outfield players currently they are catching up quickly as training improves and develops.

Now that Kane has gone I feel a sense of relief that the drama is all over and I strangely don't miss him at all.

I agree. I think that's one position where it's harder for a woman. Generally they are shorter, so the area of the goal is harder to cover. Then women have hips and their weight distribution makes their movement different to men, (I'm sure you've noticed!) and harder to jump higher/sideways. Add in their leg muscles usually aren't as developed as men and you can see why they wouldn't be of the same standard as their male counterparts.
