Could Lewis Holtby be the answer?

I like Holtby but some are under rating Dembele for some silly reason

Sandro/Capoue, Paulinho/Dembele, Holtby/Carroll, Eriksen/Chadli, Lamela/Townsend

This will be our midfield 5 I think, whether it's 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Eriksen and Holtby can and hopefully will play in the same teams - Eriksen can play out on the left.

so no sigi or lennon this season? I understand your point, but might be a bit premature -- not sure how much playing time carroll will get and erickson has not yet signed... I think the lamela deal is done? kind of? :cautious:

I do believe in a 4-2-3-1 lamela might have more time as the central attacking mid than outside, but no biggy - time will tell and it's exciting either way to have that dilema of talent to choose from :D

COYS!!

I think they will put Eriksen where you had Carroll, and have Lennon or a new winger with Chadli, and send Carroll out on loan. Eriksen is NOT a winger, he could play there but it would be a waste.

I'm seeing rumours that Holtby and Sig will go out on loan, I think that would be a nonsense if that happened.

No it wouldn't be a waste, he has played a lot as a LWF and has been really effective out there.

Nobody is underrating him, just that he was pony at the end of last season (possibly through carrying injury) and hasn't started well this season either (possibly still carrying injury).

I hope Holtby doesn't go, but Sigurdsson can go permanently for all I care.

Not giving him much of a chance are you? Levy only just bought him last season he came good in the second half of the season. Bale would have been out the door long time ago, if he was judged like that.

No he didn't, he just went from being god awful, to acceptable.

People's cocks come out way too soon on some players unfortunately.

Re: Sigurdsson - I recall a few occasions last season where he was a game changer. When the rest of our squad were playing like a pack of pricks and only Gareth was getting anywhere near the goal, I can recall Gylfi coming off the bench and giving us much-needed flair and creativity. His passing and his delivery are excellent, I just think he needs to work on positioning and shooting accuracy then he'll be a real force IMO, perfect impact sub.

As far as Lewis goes I just love him tbh.

Holtby did great last night. Should get some time as a No. 10 this season.
Loved the celebration...

Can you actually recall these and give examples?

Holtby is awesome - he's got such an infectious attitude. Really rooting for the guy, and definitely think he could play his way into our first team. Lovely goal too, and with his wrong foot. How about this for a midfield line up?

------- Capoue ----- Small Paul
---------------- Holtby

-- Lamela ----------------- Eriksen

I think that's got a good mix about it personally. Less brutal/physical than were Dembele to play there, but with a git more guile. He's a clever player Holtby, who looks like he's bulked up a bit and who's work rate and passing means he's well suited to that role.

We just need to confirm Lamela and Eriksen - if we do, I will start getting pretty bloody excited about the season.

Would have helped if he played where he did last night. I like Lewis, needs to be No.10 though, dont like him too deep.

Last season was first in the prem, needed a few months to get used to it.

Some people draw conclusions too early on players, saw some melt saying Chadli was shit after two friendly's. I wanted to punch him.

Just to make clear, I was talking about Sigurdsson.

That was an awesome way to reference the recent history of the club and identify with our fans, good on him :)
