Robinson contract until 2012 or 2014 as i think

I don't think we will pay £8m for another Keeper while we are still trying to sign CB, Bale, CM, LM & Bent !

as we did with Hargreaves, I think this is just another plan to waste Man Utd time until finalise our deal with Bale. ( as I think, because it wasn't our plan to spend £16 & £8 for them, I don't think we will spend £40 or £50 for new signings ).

been very impressive for Scotland but doubt he would join us as Robbo's backup, most likely he will join Arsenal

Although what I've said may sound harsh to the boys in blue its may considered thoughts on the matter. Robinson should be replaced and Craig Gordon is technically better.

can you elaborate on this abit more?

I'm not sure if this was an ITK or not. I was hoping that somone here had bought the paper and could give a reasonable judgement.

I actually saw this over someones shoulder and thought I would mention it.

IMHO I agree with others above in that Robbo has a long contract, he'll stay as #1. No point spending this kind of cash on a new keeper when our priorities lay elsewhere.

Craig Gordon would be an improvement on Paul Robinson period.

Gordon is better from Shots from Distance and commands the box better than Robbo.Robbo has quicker reactions and has better distrubtions of the ball.In one on ones Robbo just edges it.His big advantage is his height he must be 6`4.
But a 8 million no way.

Segers has told Jol Alnwick isn't going to cut the mustard (allegedly), so we could indeed be on the look-out for a keeper. Not, I think, for £8m, though. However, the original ITK info about Gordon did say both the fee and the degree of interest could be exaggerated.

Gordon won't be going to the Arse, they signed that polish kid... Robbo is prone to errors, but then again so are all keepers

woudlnt be too sure on that, i felt Gordon though being tall never really does command his box, and is a little lightweight when coming out to claim for some cross's! he comes out more and catches more, but he also slipps or flaps at some too

Preasley was the one who bossed the defence about and sorted everything at the back, since he has gone there back line has looked really poor at times and Gordon IMO hasnt looked as good

Robbo has a freak accident in a WC qualifier that sends his confidence to shit, resulting in poor performances for most of the rest of the season and a number of people start to say he should be replaced.

He was class the previous season, the sort of class that doesn't magically disappear.

I'm hoping after the summer break Robinson will be back to his best.

Every clubs needs a good CB,Pressley was brilliant for Hearts.Vlad is destroying the club.
Hartley was there best player.
Webster,Pressley,Nelison,Hartley have all left hearts and thats why i think Gordon struggled this term.He will be a top keeper in the furture but he needs to leave the spl or go to one of the old firm.
Gordon still very young in goal keeping terms, when i watched him against Rangers.Hes been very good.He seems to make a lot of Blunders aginst Celtic though!
For Scotland i thought he has been outstanding in their games but at 8 million no way!

Craig Gordon is an excellent goalkeeper. I dunno about replacing Robbo but I really hope he doesn't go to the scum.

Good Gord Robbo

PAUL ROBINSON’S future as Spurs No 1 is in doubt after boss Martin Jol joined the race for Hearts goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Jol wants to bring in another top-class stopper to compete with England star Robbo.

And Spurs are ready to make an £8million bid for the Scotland international, who is widely regarded as the best keeper in Britain.

Spurs face stiff competition from Manchester United for Gordon’s signature.

Alex Ferguson is believed to be very interested in the Scot, despite having Edwin van der Sar and Ben Foster to contest the goalkeeper’s position at Old Trafford.

Hearts snubbed a £3million bid from Fulham for Gordon, 24, in January but he looks certain to leave this summer.

Robinson, 27, was criticised for a series of high-profile blunders last season.

And his position as England No 1 is under threat from Foster, who made his international debut against Spain in February.

Now he is facing competition at club level.

If Jol succeeds in bringing Gordon to the club, Robbo can expect a tough battle to keep his place between the sticks.

And his Czech understudy Radek Cerny would be likely to leave White Hart Lane as a result.

That's just not true. He was making exactly the same sort of mistakes last season as he has done this season. The goals Lua-Lua scored for Portsmouth and Fletcher for West Ham were scored last season, weren't they? How about the flap against Arsenal? I'm fairly certain there was a significant number of similar errors as well, even if they don't immediately come to mind.

Of course he's made mistakes, all keepers do.

I still believe, though, that his performances degraded following the nightmare against Croatia and started to pick up a tad towards the end of the season.

Yeah, I know, that's why I said I'm fairly certain that he made a significant number of errors. I obviously can't remember every single incident from last season, and every single mistake he made, but I'm pretty confident in the opinion I formulated during the course of it. The most worrying thing is there seems to be specific kinds of error he makes, indicating genuine weaknesses in his game rather than just being intermittently error prone. And he was doing the same sort of things at Leeds.

Here's what I think. Let United have Gordon and once they do, make a 7 million pound bid for Foster. That kid is going to be the best goalie in Europe let alone Britain in about 3 years.

Great it took us months to determine what Roy Keane figured out in a few days in charge.
