Bedding in 3 (4 including Capoue as sub) signings for our season opener was always going to be tough. These guys were not just making their competitive club debuts, they were making their first ever Premier League starts. I think we did great considering. Soldado is a great link-up player as well as a natural finisher. I really think once we get our creative midfielder/s in, we’ll really take some stopping! I don’t see any team in the league being able to dominate our midfield - and we already have a lot of versatility and a variety of options and combinations to use depending on the opposition we face. AVB is putting together a monster squad to rival any in the EPL. What’s needed as most have pointed out is the playmaker - signings are coming to address that it seems, so IMO, we’re looking darn good. Obviously today the quality of opposition wasn’t the best, but 3 away points and the team confidence and understanding among the players are only going to grow. Plus, look how the Arse did yesterday with a team that know each other well!

Listening to Holloway, no respect for him at all. Complaining about Chadli winning a shoulder to shoulder challenge while sending his team out to constantly niggle our players.

Yep pisstaker their captain must have fouled about 5 or 6 times in that game and the one on Rosé where he wrapped his legs around him and the clown clattenberg gave us a corner? Wtf many bitch holloway lost a bit of respect for him there

I am not going to say anything too negative as having 4 new players, three of which started, was never going to be easy and I thaught Cap looked fantastic when he came on. But even so CP where an absolute tragedy, their passing was abysmal for the most part and the team as a whole looked lost and really, new signings or not, we should have done a lot better then 1-0 from the spot. A win is a win and its great to start the season with one so that's a big positive. The big problem for me, and it's one we had last season, is the complete lack of creativity in our midfield. Sig is just not quite good enough yet and I really hope that we make a move for ether Lamela or Willian as we really need some extra creativity in our attack otherwise we won't b able to make the most of Soldado.

Holloway is a complete tosser. Those comments are utterly embarrassing.

We might not have clicked yet - but 3-0 wouldn't of flattered us one bit.

They're are going to get spanked week in week out on that performance.

Just caught the match. A solid performance, the first game of the season, potentially a banana skin of a fixture for us. I take the result any day.

We could have gone up a few gears, but we don't have mid season fitness, 4 new players playing large percentages of the match.

Biggest plus is clean sheet, after pre-season we looked a bit dodgy. Rose i thought was great today, much better than his shocker last week at espanyol.

Of course, expect more next week. Tough fixture.

Ian Holloway is a very stupid man

Holloway is a complete tosser. Those comments are utterly embarrassing

Yeah, he sounded like a right whinging git, didn't he?

I thought he was a breath of fresh air and very entertaining when at Blackpool, but he seems to have come back into the Prem with a real chip on his shoulder. What's happened to him the last few years, I wonder.

UK ONLY link, I think - to interview: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23745668

Looks like we have scouted players very well this summer I know its early days I am sure they will have bad days and better days but they all looked very technically astute, strong, coped with the physicality and dished it out too. Did not look out of place nothing like a away day at a promoted side to find out what players are like.

Totally agree. I also liked the look of Chadli second half; seemed as if AVB told to grow a pair and take his man on, like we see in his career highlights. Could be a player that needs a cuddle every so often; nothing wrong with that though-Cristiano Ronaldo is similar.

Anyone get the impression that Rose was sulking after being substituted in the 85th minute?

I know he came out with comments recently about he wanted to move if not playing, but if he's gonna start moaning about playing games but coming off late on, then I can only see trouble ahead.
