I mean he's proper rubbish but at the very least he's stupidly fast - surely one of the quickest in the entire league - and suits our style of play somewhat.

If Conte can drill the automations into him and, effectively, make his decisions for him, maybe he won't be a complete disaster as it's decision making where he's absolutely terrible

Would be a very underwhelming signing whichever way you look at it, though.

Being linked with Adama Traore and Dan James it's starting to look like we're just targeting Premier League experienced players who can run really fast...

I like the kid, thought he would really kick on at utd. He works hard and under Conte who knows...would be happy to have him as an option

Have we signed him? Are we trying to sign him? Is this likely total bullshit made up by his agent? Should we wait to see what happens before spilling utter bile and complete negativity all over this forum?

How is that utter bile?

It's Paratici who wants him. The DOF equivalent of a Kyle Walker brain fart. Nuno and now this...

Again, I'm perfectly happy with this signing. All I know is there are a couple of gaps left in the squad, and if Conte and Paratici have identified Dan James to potentially fill one of them then great. It takes a 7/10 window to an 8/10 window as far as I'm concerned in terms of identifying weaknesses and attempting to cover them. As with every single transfer we can only know for sure when we see the proof on the pitch.

In the same camp as you. This deal if it does happen will also allow Gil to go out and get regular minutes this season rather than warming our bench.

Would much rather a loan for James as apposed to a permanent deal for another player we are stuck with for X years. Whilst I would prefer others such as Zaha but I don't think they are really options, and people are just creating a stick to beat the club with.

Completely agree. I would prefer Zaniolo or Zaha, and I'd probably prefer Traore or Ziyech or most in that position as I'd love for our forward options to be Kane, Son, Kulu, Richy, Lucas, and new signing all battling for minutes.

But if Conte really only wanted Zaniolo per say, then you look at the others on what deal makes sense for the club. Traore, unless Wolves really don't want him - then you'd have to pay a small fee but give him a 3-4 year contract. Zaha is 30, huge fee and huge wages, Ziyech pretty similar. Then they see the James deal as one they can get done for as cheap as possible and can revisit this again in winter window or next Summer.

The important thing is that Conte has even said he needs more than one window to fix the squad. We've made great progress this window, and yes James is underwhelming, but I will say that I get the logic behind the deal. If it came out we bought him outright on a 4-5 year contract then I would start to question

Do people honestly think if signed James will rotate with Kulu?

I can't see that personally, I think we have 4 first choice players for our front 3 who will rotate during our heavy schedule. Lucas and James would be bench options coming on in the last 10/15 minutes IMO. Of course they would start the odd game here and there but for the vast majority of our games surely 3 out of our 4 main players will start in the front 3?

Son/Kane/Kulu
Richy/Kane/Kulu
Son/Richy/Kulu
Son/Kane/Richy

Surely the combinations above are going to be the most frequent starters.

Is it mean that I really want him, and then for his skill spike to be used in its most efficient way by a ruthlessly clever manager and for him to be a roaring success?
Would be great. I want every player we sign to be a success. Even more so when there’s a meltdown about signing him.

I still think he’s crap though.

Ah...we've reached the stage where it now feels like a standard Spurs transfer window. Thank god we did all that work before hand and made some good signings.

This is just a depressing link and I'm going to choose to not believe it.

I don't see any remit that Dan James ticks for us;

Outright pace on the counter - Spence
Attacking nous/experience - Moura
Wingback - Doherty
Physically imposing at set pieces - No
Home Grown - No

Of course, if Conte approves this then who are we to argue but the above still rings true for me and I can only hope this doesn't come to fruition.

We’ve heard that Conte won’t have players just for the sake of it, because he won’t play them. So there has to be a reason for the interest, and if it’s a Conte/Paratici target then I’m fine with it. We need a large squad to cope this season.

Im sure Paratici and Conte have a better eye for a player than SC
Come on mate, is he really worth taking on loan for the season when signing him wouldn't even fix any of our HG problems? It would mean him or likely Doherty wouldn't be able to play in the CL, and doesn't bring us any closer to being able to register Sarr for it.

On the upside, if this happens and Conte actually turns him into a baller, we could probably turn it into song about the quality (or lack thereof) of Gary Neville’s opinions. That alone would be worth the loan fee, in my onions.
