Come on mate, is he really worth taking on loan for the season when signing him wouldn't even fix any of our HG problems? It would mean him or likely Doherty wouldn't be able to play in the CL, and doesn't bring us any closer to being able to register Sarr for it.
Im not a fan of the move but these two guys are experts.

Im a plasterer thats pretty good at fantasy football, who knows better??

You can't have read many then
His assessment of "utter bile" might have been OTT, but then you've certainly over reacted based on a couple of twitter links. We have been looking at numerous options, how these enquiries are blown up by the media isn't the clubs fault. We've got less than 2 days left, if we end up with Dan James we can all join hands and sing our disapproval in unison. If we end up with someone better or even no one at all, you're going to look more than a little foolish for once again jumping the gun based on very little.

Is it mean that I really want him, and then for his skill spike to be used in its most efficient way by a ruthlessly clever manager and for him to be a roaring success?
Is it bad that i feel the same way about Gil?

I cant believe some people would rather nothing than James. Ludicrous.
I would say it's a case of rather utilising what we already have in our squad as a preference giving them minutes instead as opposed to what looks like an onerous deal for James.

As ever, the overreactions are truly embarrassing.
Yep, if Conte wants him there is a reason. He has pace to burn, can cover RWF and RWB. Wouldn't fit the bill in terms of height of other signings which makes me think it could just be paper talk, but he would be homegrown in the PL, which might be influencing our thinking but he wouldn't be homegrown in the CL.

Wouldn't be a starter but imo he's better than Lucas and would give us the depth we need whilst being probably fairly content with a squad role in a CL side trying to win trophies.

He was at Utd at a time when they were a mess, he's been in and out of the team at Leeds.

Sure I'd prefer a Zyiech, Carrasco, Zaha etc but if we end up with James or Traore both have prem experience are decent players who'd offer us a decent amount of quality and depth.

I don't think this one will happen personally but agree the overreactions are embarrrassing.

I doubt Kane would be happy with this move. It’s not a move that ANY of the other big clubs would make and it very much feels like a Llorente/Sissoko move.

The lack of ambition is excruciating.

Underwhelming to say the least. I'd much rather Gil be given a chance and the minutes. Reckon we will be in a situation where we're trying to shift James in the next year or so.

Also people really do seem to be forgetting that we have 5 subs this season onwards. Buying shite isn’t going to help us whatsoever- it’s not about 5th choice or bench options. It’s about quality dropping when subs need to be made.

James is homegrown so could be as simple as that, he's also got prem experience and imo he's better and more ready than Gil is at this point in time and I think Conte agree's hence the decision to loan Gil out for one more season.

Without directly hearing from Conte and FP it is hard to say but to me Gil certainly looks talented so I can see why a lot of people are keen to give him the minutes, but he is also very very raw and lightweight, he runs around a lot and looks busy but his end product has been near on non-existent and so that in combination with his lack of physicality could be why we are looking at other options. James would be a bit of a strange one as he is same/similar height to Gil but perhaps as he's a bit older and more used to the league he's physically a bit more ready.

If he wasn't the ninth signing of them summer I would probably have cared, but he might be the 9th signing of the summer
