Keeper as captain. No way. More or less saying we don't use a captain.

Yes I know he's been France captain.

Can't lead from the keeper position.

To be fair he can see the whole game in front of him. Do our players look up to him and strive to perform like him! I would like to think so. Doesn't matter where you play in the end, it's about driving your team mates, making them go that extra bit. If Hugo can't lead by example then I don't know who will

Feel sorry for Luke Shaw and wish him a full recovery but this should mean an opportunity for Rose to get a game for England and if his form is anything like it is for us he could be on the plane next summer

He must have thought he'd never get a chance but it bodes well for this season if he's extra out to impress

Same feeling. It feels bad to see the injury, but rose deserves a chance.

Plus, i am glad we didn't buy moreno last season thanks to his injury

it should, but it won't. hodgson will still pick baines, gibbs and bertrand ahead of danny, no matter how they play(if they even play).

If Woy had never even picked Rose for a squad I might agree. But it's not like he's being completely ignored and he is a step above what he was going into last season

EDIT: Baines has been injured most of the summer and is now out again until Mid-nov. And he turns 31 in Dec by the way. Gibbs hasn't started an EPL game yet this season after a huge drop in confidence. That has to affect his chances sooner or later

Big fan of this guy. Always gives a full 90, regardless of the circumstances, and is a proper athlete. People often give him a hard time for his facial expression, saying it makes him look like he's constantly smelling a fart, but I say it's a look of proper arrogance, and it's that arrogance on both the inside and outside I miss from Tottenham Hotspur players (part of why I did and still have a thoroughly gay mancrush on Berbs). Well-pleased with his reaction to the hostility he received last year, especially when it was announced that he had received a new contract from the club (disgusting reaction from many fans on Twatter), and delighted he's still with us. Should be starting every league game if fit IMO.

Like the boy.
From Public enemy No1 to Ex-Academy Hero.
Davies played at Sunderland because Rose was injured.
Shows real spirit and commitment.
Expect nothing less from youths
that have come up through the ranks.

Rose is, has always been and will forever be, a better player than Ben Davies. Why isnt he first choice?

I am not so sure, having never seen them in training together. Also, nobody should just walk into the team.

Agree but it's what happens on the pitch that is crucial surely.
Rose has risen to the Davies challenge
and offers much more positivity.
Perhaps Davies can raise his game in return.

For the coaches and the players, the form in training needs to matter more. A meritocracy is good for everyone. If Davies plays well in training that needs to be taken into account.

Rose is the best left back we have had for a long time, but some the assessments of Ben Davies on here are ridiculous.

More than what? The performance in a match?
You could end up with mediocre players that train well.
If you mean it should be taken into account
then once again I agree.
Danny has attitude on the pitch
which he may display in training
but in Poch. terms he offers more than Davies going forward
at the moment.

Either way, I am glad that we have two god left backs. Thinking back to some of those we have had in the past I am very happy with our current situation. Although I must admit that I did like BAE and Justin Edinburgh is a bit of a personal hero due to the sheer effort he put in (with limited ability) gives hop to us all.

BAE was class, Edinburgh was absolutely fucking useless and made more mistakes and cost us more goals than i've had hot dinners. Any supporter that has him as a hero needs professional help

Its us the supporters who are the real heroes having to watch him every week and making the effort to go along to the games knowing he was playing :)

Agreed - it seems to me that you can't prefer one player over another without saying that the one you like less is "FUCKING RUBBISH, MY DEAD GRAN IS BETTER THAN HIM, GET RID".

Where's the nuance, guys
