Fixed your post, just for relevance to my point.

You don't think he's worth that figure but that figure gets you Shane Long these days. Granted, it also got Swansea Wilfried Bony, but then again, £17m got us Paulinho. I'd rather Ings any day ;-)

Better than Adebayor for free and his wages

I don't think Ings will see more than £50k/week. That is likely to still be a huge jump for him

There's a difference between keeping an asset and gaining one. New contracts have signing-on fees, loyalty bonuses, agent fees etc. It may well be the case that Ings will demand more than £50k a week, even if it's for stupid things like the increased premium of living down South.

Kane has earnt his new contract - it would take the 'p' if ings automatically arrived on equal or greater terms

For us, it gets you 1.5 Chadlis, an Eriksen, 3 Diers or 2 x Dele Alli plus change...

My opinion is my opinion - no matter how much it gets repeated, I won't remain any more convinced it's got the hallmarks of a good signing considering our constraints. The money could be utilised a bit better, is all.

I have a good idea what's happening but it's not for a forum
Still looking like pool on Ings they also want Benteke too!
Austin is not for us
Our potential incomings will be from OS

The fact he has has just one season in the PL, had significant barren spells and is young and English and therefore overhyped .... not to mention I have seen very little to suggest he is better than Championship/bottom of PL standard

Quick honest question - did you actually watch him first hand at WHL this season. I did and actually watched him on purpose - he was a right pain in the arse for our defenders. Didn't score but was trouble.

I always think these X versus someone clips are more informative than "best of" compilations.

This is all of Ings touches versus Man U a top team. Not all of it is perfect but the little runs in behind, touches, techniques, passes and vision as well as the way he shields and protects the ball away from bigger players all stand out and mark his potential for me.

Yeah, I raised an eyebrow when I heard about this 12 million pound bid...I'm sure we have our devious, or strategic if you like, reasons.

Still can't understand why someone would want to go there with Sturridge and potentially Benteke going there.

It sounds like we have a plan, which is promising to hear.

Also, having a bid announced publicly, or rather, "leaked." Does seem to be against recent transfer activity of ours. We seem to want to be quiet with our business.

Most concerning for me is how much we need to improve if Liverpool get both Ings & Benteke & will no doubt add others just to have a chance of finishing 5th again.

The idea I believe is to increase the price of a deal for the player. It is open that Liverpool want Benteke and if it gets to where they cannot do both deals then they will sign Benteke. Liverpool would not do a deal for Ings at £12 million.

They don't have to match our bid though. If we've had a big bid accepted now it just means we get the chance to speak exclusively to Ings and try and convince him. Liverpool can hang tight and hope we don't, then pay the tribunal fee

You're probably right, in fact, as bids are accounted for by tribunals apparently, it may drive up the price so much that they may not be able to afford both anyway.

Even so, I still think it madness Ings would want to move there with them bringing in Benteke and already having Sturridge. They'll also likely be unable to unload Balotelli, so there's yet more competition to deal with.
