I think Rose should stay and fight for his place he has good pace but needs to get a bit fitter... he also needs to improve his final ball and defensive awareness, We will have enough games with injuries, suspensions and cups etc... Poch has a reputation to improve players so lets see what he can do with Rose...

I know some posters who think Rose is better than Shaw. lol

Rose is an okay LB, a number 2 quality LB nothing, more than that.
agreed, but his attitude stinks so in an ideal world id like Frederiks to be given a chance at LB. Dennis Irwin pulled it off (right-footed full back at left back and Chelsea have 'Dave' there).

He pretty much said last season that if he wasn't going to play he wanted to leave. I think his preference would be to go now we have Davies.

Selling Rose and replacing him with a guy like Bastian Oczipka would be fantastic business even if the money involved turned out to be a wash. Oczipka can obviously play LB but I also think he could push up a bit further on some occasions and play as a more defensive minded LM option to see out matches by doubling up on the left with Davies.
Surely Rose could do the same thing seeing as he started his career higher up anyways?

Either way, personally I hope Rose stays, he needs competition and good coaching. Tired of everyone being so eager to sell him but give every other new signing a second chance. Let's not forget that he started the season very well (in addition to being Sunderland's POTY the season before) and then when he came back from injury the team was a mess. He definitely has a much higher ceiling than Davies, if nothing else. Looked very good in preseason so far, too.

Definitely looks to have worked on his crossing. Had a perfect ball in to Kane in the last friendly.

The winds of change are coming... I give it 3 months max and everyone (the lemmings as it was so wonderfully put) will be happy Danny stayed

Well I guess that would mean Ben Davies wouldn't have been injured so you could be right, but there would still be the nagging worry that he might going forward meaning Rose playing, so I'm not convinced "happy" would be the right word
