But the good thing is he said that he's not pushing for a move he just thought he'd have a little chat with The Sun 'newspaper'

I'm sure Poch & Dan will be fine and dandy this morning

I love football(ers)

You would be mad to say those things. Interesting to see if a video of the interview comes out.

If true, Rose needs to remember he been at the club a long time and signed a contract he believed his worth last summer.

Well done to everyone that ever gave Rose abuse at games when he played for us, that was totally fucking worth it and I knew he wouldn't just forgive and forget that.

Sell him to Man Utd for Luke Shaw and £20m, fuck sending a message we need to rebuild with players who want to be here.

I'd love to know when this interview was given, as I doubt Rose would request it this close to the start of the season. Wouldn't surprise me if the Sun had been holding it for the last 3-4 weeks and purposely dropped it this close to the start of the season so it felt more meaningful.

For all we know he has already spoken to Poch, Levy and the team about this and it's old news to them.

Until I hear something from the club stating he's up for sale I'm not worried at all. As soon as he gets fit again it'll be down to him to battle his way back in to the team - I'm sure in a few weeks he'll be more focussed on this than anything else.

From the written piece I read (didn't watch the video) his comments aren't out of order, IMO. He basically just says that we need to strengthen with two or three good signings, which is many agree with. He says he respects the decision to sell Walker, if Poch feels it was the right thing.

Whether he was well-advised to do such an interview, I'm not sure.

Edit: ah apparently the version I read was a cut down one, and in the full piece he goes on about his wages. That stuff ain't good.

The thread really kicked off so I haven't really followed the conversation but am I the only one who isn't really bothered by the comments?

They are true and a player putting pressure on the club is not necessarily a bad thing. It's not as he is slating the club but rather saying "Hey, we need to show some ambition and stop sitting on our hands. We won't win the league like this!"
Honestly for me, it's made me respect Rose more as he's got to have known that he'll be under plenty of abuse from fans but has still chosen to do it as this is his firm belief.

Hopefully Levy actually listens to it and gives us the players we need.

Lads, he wants more money - let's not fall for the 'ambition' shite. It's legitimate to want more money, but it just can't be accommodated in our business model - and that's not Levy's fault, short of Russian or Qatari billions, or the sustainability of the new, bigger stadium.

I hope the club keep him, let him train with the younger lads til the window's over and he's back fit, and then he can try to win his place back. I never understand fans who say you have to sell when a player voices unhappiness - that's simply not how football is - this guy can't go anywhere until 2021 unless we decide otherwise. And he will put the effort in when he realises we're keeping him - he'll want to be at the World Cup, for sure. But it's important we lay down a marker to all our squad here.

If this was just about signings then fine because all of us are thinking the same thing but by him saying he needs to make sure he gets the money he's worth he has made it clear he's angling for a move.
Hasn't played since Jan, still not fit now and he chooses this month for that interview? Has sky Andrews all over it (don't know if he's his agent it's just that sort of shitty move that I associate with him)

Just woke up from this terrible nightmare. Just dreamt that.....
With 3 days to go until the season starts we had yet to spend even £1 in trying to improve our squad while all our rivals have spent millions.
We had a thin squad with a real lack of back up quality.
He had zero ambition in the transfer market.
We sold the best right back in the league to Man City without replacing him.
Showing the rest of the squad they can earn double/treble what they're on somewhere else.
We had no fit senior right back available for Sunday.
The best left-back in the league basically wanted out with no way back for him.
Toby had yet to sign a contract.
The club and fans in complete and utter meltdown.
What an awful dream....

I've actually just read the article. Cant fault anything he said....particularly the abuse he received when his new deal was announced... That is heart breaking for any player committing to a club to have that level of abuse from his own supporters.

Forget the hysteria.... He says its not about money. He wants to feel loved and appreciated. Why knock a player with some limitations especially when adapting to a new postion like he had too.

A lot of people seem to be running with the ambition stuff...why not stop there if that's the real motive?

What he said was not rocket science SO I'm not sure why he felt he had to go chatting to The Sun. They've been saying it for months, the pundits have been saying it for months & we have been saying it for months - we need quality signings and we need to pay to keep and attract them.

Funny how the press derides the players all the time then they are the first they turn to when they want to "express themselves". The players know things getting taken out of context no matter how careful you are so he obviously didn't care how they spun it. Fact is a couple of days before the season and in plain view of the world he has disrespected his team mates, the fans and the owners. Not on mate and really wasn't any need as people knew it all anyway.

I think people are over reacting to this

He's right - we need signings. He and Poch have now publicly placed pressure on Levy...I'm fine with that

According to that rag rose is on 65k a week if he gets win bonus and other bonuses he probably pulls near to 90k.
Seems about right to me obviously he's out injured so he's been getting his basic.
Yet it says he could treble his money going to oil money clubs. Nah no ones gonna pay circa 300k a week for Danny Rose maybe 150 tops.
Ok it's still a nice pay rise I guess, he still shouldn't be sold this season he needs a fine and a bollocking for coming out with that.
The man we need to keep happy is the manager he made Walker and Rose what they are and he could do it again imo neither strike me as particularly intelligent or were stand out players before Poch got hold of them.
Let him deal with Danny Rose but Levy needs to get something over the line and soon maybe he should run it past Danny 1st though just to be on the safe side.

To be fair he's clearly as frustrated as us fans with the way we've operated during this transfer window. He knows we're in touching distance of major silverware with a couple of top quality signings, but he's not convinced we're going after players of that calibre. I don't agree with him airing the dirty laundry in public (especially not to the Sun of all shit rags), but I think he's just saying what a lot of us fans and probably some of our players are thinking.

Are the people on here who are using the ambition line deliberately ignoring the money element of his interview and how if he received an offer he would let the club know his thoughts?
This is a come and get me plea to richer clubs slightly mascaraded that's all.

The best thing the club can do is laugh this off and move on. Let him come back, play well, then give him a new contract. Making an example of him is self defeating.

He says it's not about the money doesnt' he, but then says....

'I know what I'm worth, and I will make sure I get what I'm worth'

I am not playing as well as I have done not to get paid what I think I am worth'

'I probably only have one big contract left in my career'

'I’m not going to be stupid enough not to try and get the most out of it — medals, trophies and salary'

'As with everyone else in my team, in my opinion, I am worth more than I am getting'

It's obviously 100% about the money. His agent has been in his ear since Walker got a transfer and a big juicy contract. Everything Rose says is justification for a higher wage. Either at a new club by wanting a move, or an improved deal at Spurs. The whole point of organising this interview.

It's unprofessional, the timing is terrible and it could have been said to the hierarchy in private.
