Listen to yourselves. Some of you are still spouting the same kind of shit that you flung at him a couple of seasons back. The same kind of shit that has obviously stuck in the back of his mind and made it easier to turn on us now. Don't blame Rose alone for his outburst because in many ways he's been driven to it by mindless, unfair comments like some of the ones I've been reading this evening and a disastrous lack of ambition from the Club. No, the interview ain't pretty but neither is the way we do "Business".

Does sound like he reads spurs fan websites. Hopefully people remember that when they start slagging off dier etc...

Except it's not all true, if we followed the Danny rose transfer plan we would do a fucking Leeds, the irony
Can we please stop this "we'll do a Leeds nonsense". We could comfortably pay higher wages and transfer fees and come nowhere close to the financial mess Leeds got into, the football world is a very different place. We have players at West Ham and Crystal Palace earning more than our top players. If we continue with Levy's 100k p/w wage cap we will end up with no decent players. Quite frankly I'm stunned Kane signed a new contract for less than half what he could earn elsewhere. Yes we as fans love the club but I don't begrudge players maximising their earnings, truth most of us do it in our own fields.

Daniel Levy can try and suggest it isn't sustainable but when you have sovereign nations like Qatar using football as a foreign policy statement I think he is very, very wrong.

Its a true comment e.g. Strabouli who ... Vlad who? N'kodou who? Chadli who? Jansen who ? most of us had to google/youtube these boys lets be fair and honest ... Most people on here still had to youtube KEita myself included ... like i said you may not like what he said and neither do but its true!

PS the last part you said in your post quoted yes i agree and i said that in my post also, its not right what he did and said but its true, as i said its for in house not for the public arena to say it
Dele, dier, most had to google those, rose as well. Our entire team cost less than Pogba, so this whole need to buy superstars is just bologna

HEs not saying saying buy bloody Neymar for 200M is, just house hold/big names that will improve the squad and team, he mentioned barkley as an example thats a household/big player, that will improve our squad and real competition within the team/squad.... Not superstars like Neymar, Messi Suarez equse players, fact is most of our first 11 are underpaid for their value and current market, the fact we manage to keep them is a feat in itself , which is mostly becuase of poch ...anyway i digress

It isn't sustainable plain and simple, thats not coming from levy, there was just a study done. Psg is an anomaly, bit many clubs big spending that are owned by countries

I agree he isn't looking for neymar, but at the same time in the current market a household name is fucking stupid money, I don't blame levy for buying smart during an obvious bubble in the market

He completely deserves it

If he's worried about the lack of ambition, or if he wants to leave, he should go and talk to whoever decides that. You don't go to the media and say all that, antagonizing the club, the fans and his fellow teammates at the same time

I didn't back your point at all, my point is we can clearly compete with buying players we have to google, just because we know fuck all about a prospective player has zero bearing on how good they can be

SPLASH THE CASH
Tottenham ace Danny Rose admits ‘we need two or three big buys’ and not players you have to Google to find out who they are

DANNY ROSE admits he is in awe of Manchester City and Chelsea’s squad strength — and has urged his Tottenham bosses to strike back in the transfer market.

The England left-back has singled out unsettled Everton ace Ross Barkley as one of the two or three top-class stars he believes Spurs should recruit.

As the blunt-speaking Yorkshireman put it: “I am not saying buy ten players, I’d love to see two or three — and not players you have to Google and say, ‘Who’s that?’ I mean well-known players.”

you and your beloved walker were those players we needed to google when you joined us, even bale was not that well-known at that time
so even if we signed balde you are not happy because you needed to google him?

Spurs are the only Premier League side not to have bought during the summer window.

And while Rose does not want the club to lose their admirable reputation for promoting youth, he claims Mauricio Pochettino’s squad needs fresh blood.

Rose, Tottenham’s long-serving current player having joined ten years ago, said: “Under Harry Redknapp we signed Rafa van der Vaart. It was like, ‘Wow, how did he do that?’

I thought it was DL who signed VDV?

“I mean signings like that are what we need — that’s just my opinion.

“There are three weeks to go until the window shuts and you look at Man City and think, ‘If the window shut now they would be happy with the business they have done’.

Man United, more or less, are there — although I hear Mourinho may want one or two more players — but I am sure he’d be happy with his squad.

“As a Tottenham player I’d love to see more signings. It would lift me seeing a top player come through the door.

“I’ve seen a couple of players previously saying, ‘We don’t need a top signing or signings’. But I am sorry, I am not singing off the same hymn-sheet on that one.

“I think we do need one or two top signings to strengthen the squad. I’m just not buying the idea that we don’t need anyone.”

Rose watched Tottenham’s 3-0 pre-season loss to City in Nashville last month — and had a similar sensation to seeing his team’s 4-2 FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea in April.

The injured defender, 27, said: “I know it was only pre-season but I watched the game against Man City and I was just in awe of City.

so you neglect the fact that we beat PSG and Juventus?

“They only had Kyle Walker, Danilo and the goalkeeper Ederson out of the players they’ve just bought.

“Speaking to some lads when they got back, they’re saying: ‘City are taking off £200million and then they are bringing on Aguero, Toure and Sane’. That just speaks volumes to me.

“Anyone who says we don’t need any signings, I’m not buying into that.

“As a starting 11 we have one of the best in the league, without a shadow of a doubt, but after that . . .

“We played Chelsea in the Cup semi — Costa, Hazard and Cahill didn’t play.

“After 60 minutes, Conte has brought on Fabregas, Hazard and Costa and they’ve changed the match.

“I thought to myself, ‘Could we ever afford to play against a top team and afford to have Harry Kane, Dele Alli and a top centre-back not playing?’

“No disrespect to anyone but I don’t think we could do that and Chelsea did that to us. They’re still in the game, they bring on Costa, Hazard and Fabregas and they won.

“I definitely feel we need to bolster the squad.

because you were f**king injured so that we played Son at LB to keep Davies for the league

“Under Harry, there were two Premier League-class players for every position. We are finishing even higher under Mauricio but we don’t have that depth now.

“The standard of training when there’s that much quality is amazing. I have competition for my place but why shouldn’t everyone have competition for their places?

“Top-class competition where, if you have two average games, you might lose your place. I have that and I don’t see why anyone else shouldn’t.

“I want world-class players to come through the front door to make you fight for your place.”

Rose’s England team-mate Barkley, who is being allowed to leave Everton, has long been linked with Spurs.

And Rose said: “Mauricio is a world-class manager and I can only voice my opinion — as a Tottenham ‘fan’ for the last six months.

“But hearing Ross might be available, well, I have played with and against Ross and bringing him through the door, in itself, would be a huge boost.

“I’m a huge fan. In terms of physical stature, right and left foot and trying to get him off the ball, he’s like Mousa Dembele. If Ross wants to push on to the next level, Mauricio Pochettino is the best manager to do that — just look how many players he has got into the England squad.”

While Spurs have yet to recruit this summer, there has been one significant departure — Walker’s £50m switch to Pep Guardiola’s City.

Rose, who has known Walker for 17 years since their days in Yorkshire schoolboy football, revealed he advised Pochettino not to sell the right-back.

He said: “Kyle leaving has been a big blow to me because when I play I am going into battle and when I am playing against the top people, I look over to Kyle and I fully expect Kyle to get the better of anybody.

“He was, and is, the best right-back in the league and seeing him sold to a title favourite and rival was hard.

“I wouldn’t expect Daniel Levy to tell me how to play football — we get on really well and he runs the club brilliantly — so I am not going to tell him how to run his club.

“But I didn’t want to see Kyle sold. I wish him all the best and he deserves what he is earning. City will win a trophy this season and he deserves to be part of that.

“I knew Kyle may have been moving at the end of last season and I did voice my view. ‘Try to keep him, he’s the best, why would we sell him?’ — I said that to the manager.

“But I’ve seen the manager say he feels Tottenham had the best of him and if that is what he feels, I fully respect the judgement of the manager and Daniel Levy.

“We do have a perfect replacement in Kieran Trippier. His crossing ability is the best I have played with and, as a person, he is one of the nicest I’ve ever come across.

“He looks like he’ll be Tottenham’s No 1 right-back. He deserves it and can flourish.”

hope we go all-in for Sessegnon next summer

Respect is a two way street and people should have taken that into consideration when they were abusing him a couple of years ago.

How far were liverpool away from doing a leeds when they went into administration and were seized by the banks? Our debt is much higher than theres was.
Our debt is only that high because we just took a £350m loan to build a new stadium. We're making record profits and paying down debt from before making regular, on time payments. We could spend £70m and more or less break even this summer. We've spent £0.

I agree with that(y) ... his point is he wants to win things he is 27 and getting to his peak after that its his trajectory is not up. We are in a difficult situation with the team lets be honest outperforming what anyone of us though a year or two ago with practically the same players we have and we all can agree they are not getting paid market value wages im not saying 200k a week but really more than 60/70k to the level they are playing and producing, its a catch 22 scenario for us unfortunatley , our recent success in terms of playing, and how the team has progressed so much

I would hope that's exactly how far we are from doing a Leeds, and per the recent study done on football spending, levy is the only one with half a clue on not falling for the "need to spend to win", haven't we proved over the last couple of years that we don't need to splash cash because it's the cool thing to do?
Really

We are very tight ship. Levy is top class. I'm a bit concerned though that we've just lost the best right back in the league. The best left in the league is making noises which don't reassure, all a week before the start of the season. This would not happen at city, utd or chelsea, just very disappointing that were still seeming having to sell our best players

You might find in a couple of weeks we could spend £130m and break even this summer...

Bollocks. I heard racial slurs and Christ knows what else during that period. I imagine that sticks in someone's mind.

I don't think Poch would give Rose his blessing to go to the most reviled tabloid in the country and slag off the supporters and his teammates.
Actually, if this was indeed the intention then the s*n would be the perfect place to do it. Why? Because you get the message out in the ether with some plausible deniability as to the accuracy of the quotes since they have credibility issues (remember the Xavi quotes of Pep and Dele from the interview that never occurred). If you take to to the Guardian or the Times then no one would believe you when you said you didn't say those things or they were taken out of context. Ultimately, with the echo chamber nature of shady journalism, the reputable rags report on it as it is 100% unassailable truth anyway. See? Perfect venue.
