Probably available in January for knock down price,i believe he is a good goalscorer and would suit our system better this time around. He played his best football in the counter attacking Charlton team. I know everybody would like the Cavani's and falco's in this world but being realistic we could also stretch to another midfielder if we got Bent cheap enough.
Sorry mate, but no. No. And no again.
I had enough of him last time!
Unless you tailor your entire game to suit him, he contributes little. He didn't fit in here last time, and ask any Villa fan what they think of him. Bruce at Sunderland played to his strengths, which worked a treat. But he doesn't have enough in his game to play in our team, as far as I'm concerned.
I'll get off the fence now...:)

Good consistent goalscorer........but Bent and Spurs don't go together. Wouldn't work out.

If he suits our system, we need to change our system.

hate the bloke. A wanker. i remember him giving the spurs fans a wanker sign while at charlton when he made it 2-0.

after we make him our record signing he goes crying on twatter and celebrates in front of our fans at sunderland. He's a nasty piece of work who cries when he doesn't get his own way.

I agree with the general sentiment but I don't remember him giving a wanker sign, only a 2-0 gesture as he put them 2 up

Before going on to lose 2-3

He started to rub the back of his head as if he was itching it doing the wanker sign to Spurs fans. It wasn't the most subtle thing in the world.

Loved that game, I'm so glad Defoe laid the ball off to Keane, you could tell he didn't want to!

Of course, when you get Spurs 'fans' chanting 'Jermain Defoe, he's a Yiddo' after you've scored a hat-trick, you're going to be just a little bit pissed. And whilst he acted like a total arse over Harry's 'Sandra could have scored that', stow this self-righteous shit, will you? He was never good enough for some of us.

yes I'd take him if it was...

(1) on loan till the end of the season
(2) if he was happy to be third choice striker
(3) and also accept sitting on the bench!

Otherwise, I'd be telling him where to go! :mask:

Self righteous? If you say so.

He didn't do enough at Spurs, he let Sunderland down, he's letting Villa down. He won't be remembered fondly, only by Ipswich fans.

If you like him that much you should follow him on twitter.

I had a look at his twitter and he really seems like a nice guy from what I read on there.

A couple of quotes;

Darren Bent@DarrenBent
Was great to get out there for the claret and blue today after such a long time out. It was an honour to be captain, loved it!

Darren Bent@DarrenBent
Sad to see Ledley King has been forced to retire. A truly great player, working with him has made me a better player. Wish him all the best!

Bent was never one of my favorites, but he's done well for both Sunderland and Villa. I've also heard about the rumours about the 50-match clause but unless Villa are in deep financial shit I can see no reason to keep him on the bench or even worse, in the stands. The way they are playing this season they'll be lucky to avoid the drop, relegation will cost them more than the £5-7 million they have to pay Sunderland if he plays another couple of matches.

He would be an excellent signing for many Premier League clubs, and I think we could do a lot worse than getting Bent in on a loan since we are looking pretty thin in the striker department. Obviously that's not my dream scenario, but it's certainly better than having no backup when Adebayor leaves for the ACN.

Right now if it was a choice between him and bringing in no one I would choose to bring him in for a reasonable fee because at least he is a goal scorer and would give us an extra body to cover injury and dips in form whatever

The problem with that would be.....WHY THE F' IS HE OUR ONLY OPTION

Surely our scouting network and the powers that be can come up with a list of better options that are actually viable instead of continuing to chase our tails supposedly making bids for the likes of Llorente, Rossi, Aguero and Falcoa

If we can't get Leandro then we should end our interest in him, I simply refuse to believe there are not a dozen young strikers worth taking a gamble on in world football right now.
